Early Post Number Two.

My hope is that the big whoop is the homecoming and the rest of the day will be not much of anything to report.  That's my HOPE!  Whoever has a guarantee on that please raise your hand. Yes, there is a homecoming but it took a few hours to knock us loose from hospital life.  I have learned an unbelievable amount of patience when it comes to hospitals.  We are not the only ones living under that roof and I would leave it up to others to determine who goes first and second and more.  So while we waited for release papers Doug slept and I watched TV.  No big whoop on our part.  But at 1:30 it was our turn.  We took it.  Many visits with many folks during the morning, checking on just about anything that needed checking and sometimes going over the same thing more than once.  I U is a teaching hospital, one I feel is needed so patients become part of the teaching team.  That was us.  Doug has moved from liquids to soft food so a little grocery shopping happened during the morning and this afternoon we did a coming home picture and then a picture of what is extremely important to Doug's well-being.  He loves the funnies.

He talked about reading both days of news and of course the funnies as we left the hospital.  What a guy.  Back into his routine where there is a whole lot of comfort.  I love my routine as well.

Restrictions are few but there are some.
Be aware of pain before it overcomes you.
Starting on liquids but now has moved to soft food.
No driving for a while.
There is a slow progression but not as restrictive as some might have.  Because of Doug's age...there are benefits to being old....a more aggressive surgery was bypassed, and because Doug did not have some of the symptoms that some have with a Hiatal hernia,  also led to the less aggressive surgery.  Woo, woo.  We'll take it.  This was aggressive enough for good old Doug.

He's taking some great happy pills, will be somewhat limited in weight lifting and exercise.  I have no doubt that all rules will be followed.  Doug does that well.

Jessica W. talks about the wedding cake.  I was a bit confused when she first mentioned it but I know well what she infers.  My wedding cake book has many chapters, some interesting, some exciting some dull and I think the next chapter would really be interesting if it were dull.  Time for a break.  Because of the 2020 political situation, I was ready to say goodby to that year and welcome in 2021.  2021 Has been a take care of your health year so far.  Well, let's wish that 2022 will be something interesting and calming and at the end of that year a big halleluiah will be sung.  But...There are no guarantees so we'll just hang on to the coming days months and years and know that God will be with us.    Thanks be to God for supporting us through friends, prayers, and comforting words as the months rolled along for us.  It's been a trip so far.  And for many reasons, we have never felt alone on this journey.  Blessings abound.
