Feb 1 A monumental Day for Mr. and Mrs. Russell.
Such a good feeling to be out of January's dark days and now on to Feb. 1 celebrating today a year gone by since that huge surgery at Methodist. The memories are so clear of the events of that morning, walking into the hospital with Doug, meeting again Dr. Moore, the business of the operating room as I climbed onto the table with a full contingency of folks getting all things ready. And my sweet little doctor who put me to sleep. Then the ICU experience, and then return home with weeks of healing with cards and cards and more cards arriving in the mail. They all are in the basket in my TV room reminding me of a year with caring friends wishing and praying for the best of outcomes. A feeling of grace is with me. Doctors continue to be with me providing necessary care. This month on the 4th I will see a cardiologist, Dr. Raju, the 14th Dr. James-Stevenson for a colonoscopy...my choice...and on the 21st a mammogram and a visit with Dr. Schneider for a breast follow-up. The prayer is that all things have stabilized with breast issues. February 23rd is the day when a crown is added to my dental history. Not surprisingly, it seems that the radiation procedure has done a number on my teeth. Another byproduct coming my way. The medical world is near and when needed, I am more than grateful.
Woo...the news continues that a storm is on the way being the first big one for the winter. Should be interesting. The Russells are ready. There are no big plans so nothing needs to be postponed. That's the life of retirees at this point in our lives. Soup is made, Coldcut's are in the refrigerator, We'll eat either hot or cold depending on the electricity. I heard long ago that if one is on well water a full bathtub of water is a good thing if the electricity goes out. . We're on city water we don't need to do that. I might locate some camping lights just in case. Bring it on!
The puzzle is finished. That was great entertainment. Time to get another one going.
The birds continue to provide lots of entertainment. More Bluebirds continue to find the feeding station. Doug credits the birdseed to our entertainment budget. They certainly do that for us.
Congratulations on your one year anniversary. God has sure brought you through lots and provided great people and care along the way. I am continuing to pray for great results at your upcoming appointments. I was just telling Kimmy the birds are our entertainment and worth the expense. We are waiting for the big storm too and all prepared. The puzzle is beautiful! Good job putting that together.
