Predicting Health

Never fear...just one more alert.  I'm preaching this morning and here is the homily title  Taking Responsibility.  Every five years I've had a colonoscopy.  Not pleasant but now it is encouraged after the age of 45.  Kat R. has had one already.  The word is that after age 80 colonoscopies are not so important.  My new Primary Doctor said I didn't need one.  With 2021 surprises and after thinking about her recommendation for a couple of days, I learned that I could order one myself.  So I did.  Yesterday Dr. James-Stevenson asked why I wanted this procedure and my list was very long.  The big reason was that I wanted to avoid more surprises. Yesterday the list of surprises grew.  Twenty-six polyps were discovered and taken care of.  None of them were angry and all are not with me anymore. They have been sent to a lab. for scrutiny.  Who would have guessed?  Certainly not me.  So yesterday's procedure was a gift that will keep on giving.  My next colonoscopy is NEXT year!  Yikes!  I am grateful.

The colonoscopy doctors suggest that if one is active and able to do the procedure, one should continue with examinations regardless of age.  I am eternally grateful.  My colon will live well with that suggestion.

Stay alert.  Make decisions that will benefit your health.  Ask questions...LOTS of questions.  Get a second opinion if that is helpful. My second opinion person was me!   I'm trying my best to do all of the above.  I teased Doug about his eight polyps discovered three weeks ago.  His next exam is in three years.   I have egg on my face for sure.  So the surprises keep on coming.  It certainly makes life a little unpredictable for one who loves to live with firm prediction making.  So for now...the sermon has ended.  Go in peace!

The rest of the week is predicted to be an easy one.  Humm...what are the odds?  The outside house remodels starts today. A few more things come off the wall this morning.  That prediction is that if I don't do it the pounding will denude the wall!     Workers will finish tomorrow if there is no rain.  Humm...not completely.  It's guttering and shutters later.

The first shutter down!  There's a long way to go!  The knock on the door early this morning got a huge welcome word from me!  We're on the way with this project although it won't be completed for a while.  It's the supply train.  New gutters and shutters later.  Another project that will continue to develop patience.  We need a lot of that these days.
