Brr.

The cold weather is back with a smack in the face of air that isn't so hot. Why was I thinking that winter was on the verge of going away? Don't know the answer. The house is officially finished. Last crew gone with another plate of chocolate chip cookies to send them packing. Gone, Gone, gone. The birds are becoming big time eaters again. The group of friends continues to grow. Today should be a home day. Judy loaned me a bunt pan and the pound cake fixins are on the counter becoming room temperature as the receipe demands. It seems a bit strange to be in this cooking world again fixin and baking things. It's a little chemistry going on. I'm always looking for the silver lining and yesterday beside a house all healed, there was a huge one to mark. As you all know radiation has brought a huge change to eating one side effect is that I've lost some weight. Not a bad thing...infact a good thing with results being that yesterday's doctor visit conversation informed me that my most expensive diabetic medication is no longer needed. Woo, woo. There was a little hooting and holloring in that exam room! Now that's a silver, gold and more lining to say the least. Strange how all that has happened fits together. Pound cake will come today with Doug having some and the rest will be shared with the neighbors. Their gain as well as mine. Never a loss always a gift. Friend Angi came through her 10 hr. reconstruction surgery well. It should be her last surgery. Friend Daphne is healing from her first cancer surgery, There will be more for her. Prayers continue for the world. It is suffering an open wound, bleading and hurting. My heart hurts for them.

  1. Lots of good news, Lela. I am so glad to hear that your weight loss means you are off one diabetic medication - and then I read about the pound cake in the making. (I love pound cake and I am sure yours will turn out well - however - your know where this is going - be careful! ! ! ! One pound cake adds more than one pound!)

Ignore all I just wrote and enjoy your cake. I have never really understood that old saying about having and eating your cake - as far as I am concerned, having your cake means eating your cake - so it is easy to have your cake and eat it, too.
