Morning has broken.
Then the song mentions those black birds. I must say they have not been seen around these parts lately. Yes., I seem to be thinking birds lately. Carolina Wren is back. Such a sassy-looking bird. with her white mascara in place arched over her eyes and never a feather out of place. Can't lasso her enough for a picture. I'll keep trying. This little beauty is back. Never get tired of these flashes of blue darting about.
Yesterday I realized the spring flowers have moved to the bushes. Love it when that happens. Here's one of our
forsythia bushes. The sheltered one is blooming...Two others are not. When we moved to our current house 45 years ago, we planted a mock quince bush. Some years it blooms, some years not depending on how well we take care of it. This year in a week or so the mock quince will be full of red flowers. It's another home memory like horseradish.
Last night was another singing night with our church friends. That commitment has been 54 years for me and even longer for Doug. This post seems to contain some big numbers. There are even bigger ones I could list but won't! They could be in the unlisted envelope.
Sunday's anthem is one with words from an Irish Blessing.
May you see God's light on the path ahead. When the road you walk is dark. May you always hear, even in your hour of sorrow, the gentle singing of the lark. When times are hard may hardness never turn your heart to stone. May you always remember when the shadows fall, you do not walk alone. The musical notes turn these wonderful words into gems. The plan came together. Elaine Hagenberg is the musical note writer of this anthem. Often one can go to U Tube to hear anthems.
So true, so true, never alone. Although I don't think I've ever heard a Lark, I'll substitute the House Wren. Lots of music from that little gift. No matter how or when the gifts appear, stay alert to recognize them.
When you walk through a storm
ReplyDeleteHold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
