One and Done

Thaht's right...DONE. the itch is over. The pound cake is history. Woo...lots of fun but this pound cake receipe makes a whole lot of volume. I was wearing the cake during the get it into the pan part of the experiment. The bowl kept slipping out of my hands. I sprayed the bunt pan a whole bunch dumped the batter in and then into the oven for 90 minutes at 300 degrees. And when the cake needed to leave the pan it absolutely didn't want to show a whole lot of success. In fact it was a complete disaster. It flunked. But I did my part and it's now history. I would say that the whole experiment has no need to be repeated. That cake is way to sweet. Another receipe called for a whole box of brown sugar plus one more cup. What are they thinking as my friend Marcia would say! I completed the kitchen project with carrot soup. It also has potatoes and tomatoes along with onions and a clove of garlic and a shake of cumin. I'm better with soup. The what's left, and there was plenty, found it's way outside for the night critters. It was rejected by them as well. My bet is that sugar is not on their diet plan. I finished off the day by watching basketball. Turnament time. Great ball playing for sure and susprise, surprise, Indiana is still playiing and no surprise Purdue is also in the fight. It was a fun evening. Today Purdue playes Michigan State Spartans. It should be a great afternoon. Indiana plays Iowa. It will be a tough match. Iowa is on their game. Fingers crossed. Today is Bread and Bowl morning at church so I'm off to meet my church and community friends this morning. It will be a great start to the weekend.

  1. Well, you answered my big question: as hard as the making was, did the pound cake TASTE good? But it seems that even the animals were not pleased. Carrots, onions, tomatoes with garlic and cumin sound much better to me. In fact, we may have something like that at lunch today because Br. Philip is cooking and he makes things like that. I am hoping that he will think that this cold day (in the 20s!) is curry weather! ! ! I love curry.
