Strange.

This weather is a bit different for this time of year.  Should we say strange, weird, unusual, different, or maybe just March.  Let's hope March goes out like a lamb and not like a lion.  60 degrees today is pretty lamb-like.  We did have a lot of wind yesterday and my little once covered with snow yard bird landed on its backside yesterday.  This little guy makes me laugh every time I see him.  He's such a trouper.

I lived in the kitchen yesterday but I also was OUTSIDE.  I "ditched" one of the big flowerbeds.  The temperature was perfect, the ground was perfect for digging and I pulled out a whole lot of creeping Charley.  So I would say the day was a big success.  I've received messages on Facebook about not cleaning flowerbeds early to let all the little good creature bugs emerge from their winter lodges.  Well, I think there is another side to this discussion, that being staying ahead of the weeds that live alongside these creature bugs.  I'm on the weed side of the argument.  My neighbors can take care of the creatures if they wish.  Let me add that one already has her mulch in place.  I think we are early birds!

Jonquils are blooming and more are to bloom soon, In this picture, there is also bergamot coming up. It will be the biggest patch I have ever had.  It's the tall red variety that hummingbirds like.  Bergamont makes the best ice tea!
Rolls are ready.  Family is coming!  Doug helped himself to three last night and felt a bit neglected when he saw the rest being slid into plastic bags.  Poor baby!  We'll include him in breakfast tomorrow.  The one big hope is that part of the garage will reflect some organizational work while the Michigan kids are here.  It's a mess partly because there is a huge box of leftover siding to store.  Hope storing is worthwhile.  I don't think we'll need it but I guess better to be safe than sorry.
Here's the mess.  See the box on the floor!   So a little work today for me and whole lot of fun coming our way.  Some of that being in the garage.  I hope the garbage cans are full.

  1. It's wonderful to live close to the Russell bakery and gardens!

  2. Well, I have been surrounded with live oaks and Spanish moss for the past week - Mepkin Abbey in South Carolina where the novice directors of the American region are gathering. It is on the Cooper River - so great views with the large river - and always Spanish moss. We had a windy afternoon and the Spanish moss took on new life. Oh, and lots and lots of birds singing their hearts out.
