Beautiful seventh day of the week.

I will mark this Saturday morning as being another bird morning with the arrival of  RBG.  For now those letters represent Rose-Breasted Grosbeak.  They have been in and out all day long.  Friend Kathy was greeted with 5 at her feeder.  I've seen up to 3 at a time.  Just like Ruth BG, they are dressed in black with a little white as Ruth wore her white neckpieces with a bit of red makeup.  RBG's.  An easier way to identify this bird,  I would add.

An oriole was around during the day.  It could be the same bird we've seen or a different bird.  Another friend reported 7 B. Oriole's at her feeder this morning.  Bluebirds and Finch and of course Sparrows and Tufted Titmouse and all the rest continue to entertain us. Such Eye Candy for sure.
So there was bird watching during the morning hours.  I spent some time digging large clumps of grass from under the Maple tree in the front yard.  The Maple tree in the back yard tells

us it wants to go to tree heaven.  I did a bit of clean up and now the entire North side of the tree is no more.  It's wood chips line the paths through the garden.  Beautiful in shades of brown and wonderful in memory.  My hope is that what is left of the tree will be with us till fall. The feeders for the birds hang from its branches.  Change is coming.  The side of the tree has a huge winter bear sleeping hole at the base of the tree. That is if we had Carmel bears.

The solar pump is bubbling right along.  This pump has a few more features than past pumps have had.  It seems to work better if the on button is on.  So it's bubbling away with the clouds reflected in the water.  So a few days of bubbling and then we'll be thinking fish from the Reef.
For over a year Doug has brought the suet feeder in at night.  It once was a wonderful feast for the nightly visit of Mr. Racoon.  Last night another visitor came to the midnight party and the entire small container of grape jelly was the food of choice.  So suet and grape jelly jar. Oriole treats will forever be absent at the mid-night party.

So another gift of a beautiful seventh day of the week.  Life is good.
