Unbelievable
Wednesday
Ten hours of sleep.
What’s with that? It’s more like
five or six at home. It was a very quiet
night again. This is the earliest in the summer we’ve been here. Perhaps August brings more campers. We had a touch of rain early in the
night. Asleep by 10 and awake by 8 heading
to the Mich. R’s campsite to play card games and drink coffee waiting for the
kids to emerge from their bags.
During that wait, we had a HUGE rainstorm. I mean Huge. Now for campers who have been in the camping business for over 40 years, rainstorms just come, with survival every time. We stayed dry but the dogs dishes were floating around our feet. Wyatt found his safe place again in his camp chair. Our feet were resting on things to keep them dry and we just sat it out. The campgrounds are sandy and one just needs to wait and tranquility returns in time.
The kids emerged from their bags and we headed down to the Indiana Russell’s spot for breakfast. The second day of making pancakes in the rain again with an umbrella held by Jared R. All was fed and it was time to move along to another day in C. H.
When there is a will, there is a way. That meant sitting and reading and yes, more sleeping although I did get a walk to Superior and sure enough that exact same lighthouse that has been there for years is still there. I walked along the path looking for berries but we are way to early in the season to find anything to nibble on along the way.
A few choice rocks came back in my pockets. I finished a book about Honey Bees, the author sharing the ups and I’m passing it off to
Jared, a struggling beekeeper. I think
most beekeepers are doing a whole lot of that.
The Mich. R’s headed out somewhere, probably to one of the
many swimming holes in the area. Temps
are in the high 60’s. A little chilly but
not for that part of the family.
More cards and fire in the evening. It’s usually cards with no one sitting by the
fire.
Last Sunday it rained ALL day and much of the time in downpours! Heavenly rain..so much so there were flash flood warnings for part of the day. Your mowers were here yesterday doing their thing to your grass. Hawk talk here has slowed way down. Fledging has taken place and no need for so much blather. Heat index reached 104 again yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). Cooler today with low humidity. Yesterday afternoon I could hardly breath outside with the high humidity and temperature. Supposed to be that way this coming weekend, too, with rain on Sunday and into next week. Loved the picture of the rainy day and Wyatt in his chair! You picked a good time to be in the UP!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see your posts and the wonderful pictures. Love hearing about the Russell Copper Harbor Vacation!
