Saturday

Obsessive compulsive got me for about an hour.  Then it went away.  I was OCD about getting more planting completed before Patty came for a talk visit and to see the garden.  Just three things, I thought, needed attention.  So I started. Bronze fennel was planted in the ground, The curry and rosemary found places in pots.  No big deal but I got it done or better yet finished.

Fennel planted in the ground surrounded by some interesting pieces of weathered wood.

Curry in an ice-cream making bucket.

Tiny little plant with three great shoots.  It will not take long to be a big rosemary.                                                               Superior rocks are included for interest.

So all was ready for a wonderful visit with P H.  She spends her winters in Arizona and since a few things have happened since we had a good talk, the morning was ready for a whole lot of words while walking the garden and drinking tea.  Questions ask and questions answered.  She left with the promise of returning with B Bird houses.

Speaking of B Birds.  This is day 20 since they hatched.  They are still in the box with day 21 tomorrow when they should be taking care of themselves. I say it's time to graduate.  I opened the box which sometimes encourages fledging and there they were all sleeping or so it seems snuggled tightly together.

Blue Birds with a nest lined with Georgia pine needles.  I would say it's a deluxe hotel.

After Patty left it was right back to the garden with moving a few more little newborn plants to better, safer places.  Four more zinnias got a new home. More zinnia seeds found a place in the jug world and a few 4 o'clock seedlings will be helping with keeping time in the herb garden. Plans are underway for finishing the largest bed where I find my monarch world. We're part way there already and by adding cosmos with more 4 o'clock seeds and zinnia plants the area will be finished.   A few milkweed plants were removed and the plants still standing in the garden will be attractors for Monarch eggs.

The almost 50-year-old Weigelia bush is ready to show its pretty side.                                      Doug's trimming helps it do its best. I'd like to see some hummingbirds attack this bush.

So, life is moving right along with a little of this and that.  Doug was back trimming bushes again. This time the white lilac, DC.  It will be church tomorrow with a day next week when Heidi and I pack away Easter and get ready for Pentecost Sunday celebrating the birthday of the church with Trinity Sunday following.  Mother's Day comes first but I would say it's not in the liturgical calendar. A few busy church days when the garden can be left on its own.  There will be more surprises to discover when time allows..

More ornamental strawberries.  I can't seem to get enough of them.  They are behaving now but mid summer they want to rule the garden.  I can't let that happen.

Not so tired this evening.  That's a very good thing.  Patty's visit contributed to the morning's rest and starts and stops in the afternoon helped a whole lot. Keep it simple sweety is a good thing to remember.
