Sunday

Another easy morning looking over the garden.  Then it was off to church.  I am amused when my phone tells me that in 21 minutes, I'll be at church taking Meridian Street where traffic is light.  And we arrived at about 21 minutes later. Traffic?  It seemed a little racy.  It was a good service with the choir as well as the five brass players providing music.  On the way home we delivered some carry out clams to R and B knowing they were not home but leaving them on the screened in porch.  Then another two miles got us home under a very cloudy, rainy sky.  Indy 500 is today and I certainly was glad to have a roof over my head.  There was lots of rain coming our way.

There was time for a nap and then I needed to do picture taking and caterpillar hunting.  One was positive, one was negative.

The B Birds second family is now a family of one.  There will be more.

The bird house on the patio with two doors is now the home of 4 expected Carolina Wren babies.

I would say these eggs certainly have designer colors.

This afternoon I made a few changes with bird feeders.  The sparrows are messy eaters throwing seeds across the patio.  Those seed end up in the dining room carried there by our feet.  So, this afternoon I filled the feeders, changed the humming bird water, and moved one of the feeders that I think was causing the problem.  We'll soon see if the problem has disappeared or at least made some positive improvement.  Oh, YES...the PILIATED Guy was back this morning, a regular visitor for sure.

I've spread the feeders out a bit so some are just outside the picture.

Early this spring when the warm came early the little Noah Pond was filled with water.  Yes...it was early, so early that today I decided that it was time to redo it.  The water was green and brown and just plain icky. It wasn't a surprise.  At some point I was thinking grandson help but I decided to see if I still had it in me to clean up the mess by myself.  Challenge taken!  And I'm proud to say that the pond is ready for more water tomorrow after a visit to Rosie's for water plants.  There might be a fish or two although last year we skipped that part.

                                                                            Just add water.

My visits to the library for books have gotten some thinking juices thinking container gardens.

I've seen some interesting containers in books and after once again thinking, there were some interesting ones right here in my house.

So liberating a container from the closet and putting holes in the bottom, tomorrow I hope to plant it full of purples and then combining it with an orange lawn chair I have sitting in the garden.  Have you heard that every garden needs a chair.  That's true. So we'll see how that goes. There may be a picture.  Purple and orange...a great combination across the color wheel.

There was another trip to the park with this time the fourth baby squirrel.  They are so much fun to watch when babies but know the woods is a better fit for them. I would say they are EVERYWHERE  at the same time.

I've discovered more Mexican Sunflowers have germinated along with another Four O'clock. Never give up should be the gardeners goal.

Speaking of 4 O'clocks...at some point the clock now beside the thyme will find a 4 O'clock to sit by.

My neighbor has a garden saying...There is always music in the garden but one must be silent to hear it.  So for all of my reading friends, take time for silence.  The music is there. I am so grateful for that music.
