Saturday

Today Jared and Kimmy sent a lot of pictures of their gardens.  The starter plants came from our garden but they certainly have expanded from that beginning three years ago.  I'm sharing pictures we received this morning.

The famous drift wood piece that made it home last summer when the car returned with only Adam and Jared.  Adam's soccer commitment demanded that trip mid-way through the vacation. The butterfly is metal.  Stunning Kimmy. A little pond can barely be seen.  More rocks from Superior's shore line the pond. There is a solar pump keeping the pond happy.

I would say that Kimmy has me beaten when it comes to Holly Hocks.  Just wait till next year!
The Hosta's that were around the H H's have been removed by the free range chickens.  The chickens hunting for bird seed that had fallen from the feeders attached to the deck resulted in Hosta's being eaten alive.  Some things just don't work.
The light blue plant in the corner is Lavendar.   I say it's gone wild. A large grouping of red                                                             monarda is at the rear of the picture.

The day started with the ending of a great night of sleep.  It can happen!  That's great news.  So, it was a slow morning with a whole lot of rain with thunder.  My kind of rain.  I miss those great storms that would roll through Ohio watching them come and go while standing on the front porch.  The louder the better with a rumbling that would go on forever.

Before it was over I was in the garden with my rain coat on snipping things for the altar for tomorrows church.  I cut two kinds of grass.

                                                                            Zebra Grass

Then I added some large, exciting Hosta leaves tucking in some Becky Daisys.

Tomorrow. I hope to add the last of some of the day lilies.  Second service will see them, Not the first.

So, it was another church morning. The communion cloth and green runner were taken to the chapel.

Home and lunch time and of course a short sleep.  What else happens when you are old and sitting in a chair.  Not much else!

The bird feeders got some attention with an eye and ear alerted for the visit of the Starlings.

Another reminder of Copper Harbor taken at the pier where the boat to Isle Royal docks.  A beautiful moment I was able to capture.  In the upper left-hand corner, you can see the light house in the distance.  We're getting ready for our camping with the Michigan Russell's the middle of July.

And then it was back to see if any plants were complaining because they couldn't get up after the rain.  All was well looking pretty good after their shower.

Some Benary Zinnias got to move while the smallest needed to wait a few more days for their move.

If your true leaves are obvious you get to move.  But tiny you still are if you are about two inches across.  The day was just perfect for a move with no sun that could over heat such a baby.

I'm sure the movers didn't even know they were moved the ground being so perfect for their transition to a bigger spot.  Empty spots are evident now but will not be when full grown plants are evident.  The ornamental strawberry patch looks rather boring now.  That's leaves me more sites if and when needed.

Soon to be the last of the choral bells.

It's evening now. The rain is past, and the sun is with us again.

  1. The Michigan garden is lovely - they have more space to spread out their plots. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
