Sunday

It was a pretty simple day starting with breakfast and the usual garden walk.  I took care of the day lilies and with a careful look I cut some to add to the altar arrangements that were going to have their last bloom.

We were off to church and the flowers were added to the arrangements.  I forgot to take pictures but adding a touch of color was a good thing.

Our Duke intern for the summer preached this morning.  It was an excellent sermon and one that said this lady is ready for moving on to better things although she still has one year of seminary.  I met a new to me couple although they are North members.  She is yet another cancer patient with brain cancer still under treatment.  We had a lot to talk about almost being the one to lock the church doors.

It was home with an easy lunch and a little TV before tackling a problem in the garden.  Yesterday's storm included some wind which did some damage in the garden resulting the entire sweet pea plant being blown off the Superior drift wood.  I attached it back on yesterday but it looked terrible.  So the decision to cut the plant down as I usually do later in the summer was made leaving some extra room.  Yeah!  Just what I needed. I moved more Benary Zinnias and that bed is back in business.

There is more room for all. The sweet peas will be back but looking so much better.

Speaking of Benary Zinnias, I cut another one which will encourage even more to bloom.  Time makes this zinnia even better.
                                                            Strong stems with beautiful heads.

I made a few phone calls to friends with the news that we will be working at church tomorrow, packing away Pride month banners along with a whole bunch of red Pentecost fabric.  With the added number of folks tomorrows work should go pretty fast.  That suits me just fine.  The chapel also usually gets a touch up but that has already happened.  Hooray!

While in the garden and walking by the B Bird house in the morning, it was evident that the babies were talking to each other.  It could have been about having little room.  This afternoon all was quiet again and with a check on them it was clear they have moved on.  I saw B.Birds sitting on the electric wire just above their house.  So still around but no longer at home.

                                                                    They flew the coop.

The Feaver played this afternoon and it was a win.  It was an exciting game to watch.

So tomorrow will be another church day.  I extended an invation to have garden visitors and there will be some for sure after the church work has been completed.  July and August banners include some that celebrate the trinity along with a few other things.  Keeping things fresh is a rule that Doris D. implanted well in my mind.  We'll hang two large green banners in the west entrance.  The beat goes on.

The city of Carmel copied my combination of flowers in their hanging pots.  Well, it probably was pure coincidence if you really want to know the truth.
