Sunday

The first day of the week.  Sunday.

Up early again and ready for church.  I did a garden thing and found two more-day lilies open the deer missed so they were cut for the altar at church.  A couple of weeks ago I cut some flowers for the west entrance and then gave them to Mary McD. after the second service.  This morning I cut more flowers for the west entrance and for Mary.  I can't imagine living without flowers.  It's possible but right now not my choice.

                                                                        Altar flowers

We were off to church.  Lots of visiting with friends and a great service.  Kathleen C played music composed by Martin Elis.  It was like visiting a friend that she brought with her. Martin was our organist a few years ago.  A person never to be forgotten.  One with so many talents he shared with us.

I softly yelled, thank you Martin.  For those who need an explanation...we had a gentleman years ago who always yelled that in a very loud voice every Sunday after the postlude when Martin was with us.  Martin always seemed a little embarrassed with that accolade.

I love this little flowerbed.  Last year it was all Lambs Ear and Black Eyed Susans and Becky Daisys.  I cleared out the B E Susans. Cosma, sunflower seeds, 4 o'clock and Batchlor button seeds were just pitched here and there. . I added zinnia plants, Daliah, snapdragons and calendulas.  It's a mixed up mess that is so interesting getting better every day.  It's a super cutting garden.

Home after church and I made it a point to keep life simple the whole afternoon.  I managed to cut more zinnias.  This time the button kind that are just perfect for the little vases.  The colors are so clean.  That's about all I can brag about.

Aren't they just the cutest little flowers.

Big Berthas once again are gigantic.

We had a tremendous rain during the afternoon.  There is no complaining from me.  Just makes gardening easier although I forget to fertilize the smallest zinnias like I should.  I want to keep my friends growing.

I would like to take a lot of tomatoes camping.  Although they were early, they are slow in pinking up.

The rain filled the little pond again.  One less thing to do for me.

I checked with Hoke reminding him of our morning excursion tomorrow to the Simon Center.  We're coming Dr. Schneider. I have questions.  I need to write them down tonight.  One might be what else do I need to know.

Last night after most folks were getting ready for bed, I got a birthday call from my camping friend Raylyn. She must be around 12 by now.  She lives in the suburbs of Detroit. We had a wonderful chat and then I asked to talk to her mother Kristin who is an oncology nurse of many years in one of the Detroit hospitals.  It was so helpful.  Friends are supporting in so many ways. So tomorrow I'll hear scan information about my insides.
Surprise Lilys are beginning to surprise.  These are hidden in the big horse radish leaves.

One of the last things to mention is that the pill containers are filled again.  What needed pharmacy refills got ordered.  My bill is not going to be small this time.  Ugh!  We'll do the pickup tomorrow afternoon.

  1. I love those vases with the zinnias! ! Your flower pictures are always a treat. And I love the mixed-up flowerbed! A bit of random wildness among all the carefully arranged beds. Cool. (Well, it's hot, too).
