Thursday
The four o'clock are getting their act together. But I would not recommend that you tell time with them. They are a little off. No! A whole lot off with their time.
Today was a little different. But it started out as usual with a walk through the garden to see what I could see. It was time to clean out another day lily which happened. More are ready to regrow some leaves for the rest of the warmer season. I checked on the Holly Hocks in two places. The leaves seemed to grow rust. Not uncommon for H H. They got a haircut with the hope that some new leaves will grow before cold weather. It never hurts to give it a try.
So many different colors. Even more than you can see. Most of these will be cut and taken to Michigan. Just a bit of home lasting a little longer.I moved the last of the potted plants to one area that were scattered around. Now a phone call to Eric sharing watering details while we're gone. Three of the pots love hot and dry treatment but three really need water.
And then there was another place in the garden that has only one color with one exception. But it is intense.Today was our monthly meal with my first-grade teacher buddies. Bru Burger did it again with delicious salads. Lots of good conversation happened. We have an August date to meet again.
An old jug from my home has found it's way into the garden. A daily reminder of life in Ohio. There was a little TV time and then a little sleeping and then I took the clippers and wheel barrel to another bed and clipped the last of the day lilies. Done, Done and Done. And in the process I guess I bothered a hornet. That hurt but really not for long. I suspected a nest, but I never did find anything and the total number of hornets I saw were only two. Happy to say the day lily clean-up is finished.
This little hummingbird stopped by to visit. Because they are always moving make them difficult to photograph. He was at the hosta flowers.
Patty called in the morning and said that supper was on the way and not to bother. And it arrived with pulled pork, mashed potatoes, and banana nut cupcakes. I added cauliflower. And there is enough for another meal. Life is sweet and delicious. So did I cook anything today? NO! Will I cook tomorrow? NO.
More flowers ready to decorate the van on the trip north. It was a great day for many reasons one being with friends that take care of me. There are so many. Tomorrow I'll start doing some final thinking about the U P and what I remember, I'll remember and what I forget, I'll forget. Both will be just fine.
These are Four O'clocks. Their timing was off. Nine A M here but four O'clock somewhere else for sure. The Fever lost last night but Caitlin Clark broke another record. Life is good.
Such beautiful vases to take to Michigan with flowers!
