Wednesday

Trash Day, Lawn Day, Rest Day.  Why not.  So, I did the third one for most of the day. I remember yesterday evening.  One of those every now and then is enough.

Remember this little Mex. Sunflower.  You saw him in bud form, then halfway open and today a perfect specimen.  Beautiful in every way still waiting for a butterfly.

Of course, I did the lawn walk taking pictures in the morning rather than the late afternoon or early evening.  And I posted some pictures on Facebook.  I think this is the second time I've done that.  I get a lot of Facebook information from zinnia growers.  Most are from the south and most are new growers.  From the new growers there are lots of questions and sometimes I don't think the correct answer is given.  One must know where the grower lives, north, south, east or west to share a good answer. Important seed information is missing. I read that zinnias didn't like to be transplanted.  Well, that's the only way I grow them. Transplanting is possible. I say there is always a way.  Don't discourage. The south can have two growing seasons.  We have one.  The south broadcasts seeds.  That may happen in the north but I've never seen that anywhere. Seeds can over winter in the ground in the south.  Not likely here.  Our country is large and there are many ways to make gardening work.  Hard to believe for new growers it seems. There is never one way to garden. Different strokes for different folks, depending on the resources. The sermon has ended, Dee.

Today I posted some Benary zinnia pictures with a little information about them.  It was a short and to the point paragraph.  I hope it is helpful.   I'll post those pictures here.

I am really sold on Benary zinnias.

They have strong stems close to 3 ft. tall with flower heads that are large and thick.

I haven't needed to stake them.   They have a very long vase life unlike most other zinnias.
I left out the white, orange and salmon colors.  I'm waiting in another flower bed for more to bloom.  Something to check on when we get back from the UP.

On the north side of the patio.  A walk down the lane.

I also took plain old record shots of the garden.  Just pictures of places in the garden that I think and hope you would agree are interesting.  And that's just about all I did with one exception of washing the bed sheets.  I did talk to the lawn guy asking for a little help moving one of the bigger planters to the patio where life for all the plants in pots will be a little gentler while we're gone.  I think I can move three more smaller ones to the patio.

Yes, here is where the hens and chicks live with Mr. Rooster over looking.  The red cardinal flower stands guard over everything.  This area looked so empty about a month ago.  Now not so empty!

I was home alone for a while.  Doug had his annual eye appointment in Noblesville.  He should stop at the drugstore for Mounjaro for me if he remembers.  No big deal if he forgets.  We can go later.  I need to get books ready for vacation.  I'll renew two but I'd like some new gardening books to read.  Maybe Halk will come through.  I try to be gentle with my driver.

Noah's pond is another spot of interest.  It is surrounded with lots of different time plants

Tomorrow again I'm looking forward to seeing my teacher friends at Bru Burgers.  They have the best salads with cranberries.  All four of us order that salad when we eat at the Bru.  There will be lots of time to talk.  There are always plenty of words.

A look across the front of the house.  The Black-Eyed Susan's are getting their act together a bit early.  I would say that our early spring had something to do with that. There is a lot of yellow now with more in the future.  But not as much as last year.

Then on to a simple supper and then an evening with the Fever B Ball team and Ms. Clark.  We're playing Dallas.  I texted my brother-in-law who lives near Arlington, Tex.

  1. That sermon is going to be a great part in your book-from-the-blog. It will add to all that you have already shared about one person's way to garden! With such beautiful results that people all over the world can enjoy it from pictures.
