Wednesday

It's the middle of the week again.  G. day, M. day and anything else day. Another great night of sleep with a 7:30 wake up.  There is nothing wrong with that.

I love golden rod added to other things in the fall.

I spent the morning after breakfast, newspaper, and TV and gathering zinnia seeds.  I love the little zinnias that line the paths through the garden.  They are almost impossible to find in the spring so last year I saved seeds and had enough plants to use.  It was time to do it all over again.  The trouble is that the seeds must be dark in color and mature in size and that's exactly what attracts the birds to pluck seeds from the zinna stems.  So, the trick is to plant enough for the birds and the gardener.  And this gardener did just that.  I'm leaving them to dry even more before they get slipped into paper envelopes.

Two different colors.  Yellow and orange flowers on the top picture and pink on the bottom.  Now we'll see if that really works.  Some think they all will turn pink.  Humm...I wouldn't like that at all.

Then I went after the Binary Zinnias.  It was the same process although the number of seeds seem to be fewer.  We'll see.  I would love to have enough seeds just to throw in the ground rather than needing to start them early and hope for the best.

There is no need to pull the peddle part off of the seed but they need to be dry for safe keeping.                                    I threw the rest of the flower away.  The seeds were immature.

Last year I saved Mexican Sunflowers, and I want to do the same in a couple of weeks. I find looking for those seeds in the spring takes a little work.   I get a bit miffed when buying seeds to discover that the number of seeds in the packet is unbelievable small.  It reminds me of the fact that we once bought 5 lb. bags of flour.  Now they all are 4 lb. size. I'm not sure that the price was adjusted.  I saved seeds last year and planted all them this year in more than one place.  Woo.  A whole lot of them grew to be tall beauties.

And then a Monarch flew in.  Where have you been hanging out?                                                                                      I think it's a late start to Mexico buddy.

That was an all morning work.

Since it's Wed and Garbage Day, I found there still was room for more garden snipping's in the cans.  So, I did a whole lot of snipping and discovered that the cans were empty.  I missed the pickup for today.  I have one big blue stuffed with great smelling artemisia and basil.  Woo...I threw in a few peppers not looking so good so there is a salad waiting ready for next Wed.  It's always the best smelling can of stuff in the neighborhood. There is more to do but that was enough of snipping and clipping for today.  The chair was waiting and you know what happened next.

We need a long fall season to let the buds have time to turn into flowers.                                                                                  There are a lot of possibilities.

I made a few phone calls.  My financial info for Kisqali is on the way to where it needs to go.  Woo...Thank you Jesus.  I needed to hear that.  Now lets hope for a good outcome for the rest of the year.

Doug told the mowers to move on since the grass hasn't grown much at all even though we did have a little rain.  So it's a quieter day.

Another chance to see the Monarch

Patty is dropping by with chicken soup for supper and the soul.    The have a heart trap was busy today.  Once again a frantic Cardinal found it's way into the trap and then a chipmunk.  Yes...those creatures are still here.  They usually just wait quietly until the door opens for them at the park.

The TV is set for the Fever game.
