Monday
Quiet Monday. I'll take it. Another morning of the usual stuff. Boring is good these days.
Let's start off with something good. The news of the morning is that I've figured out again how to do what I forgot was the process of knitting two parts together. Woo. I knew it was easy, and the only hard part was that two things, a stitch holder and a knitting needle is in the left hand while the right hand makes knitting happen. I'm on to another neck hugger and finally have practiced enough that all of the wonky stitches are pretty much gone. A lot of the morning was spent knitting.
One of the young squirrels, either Frick or Frack was having a blast jumping from the tree to the feeder. I need to do a lopper job on the tree but not today. It's too darn cold. So, the easier thing to do was just bring the feeders in doors leaving one black sunflower seed feeder that hasn't been conquered yet for the seed eaters. The suet still remains. Peanuts are inside along with another seed feeder. I think it would take a meteor hit to take out all the squirrels.
I was looking at temperatures on my phone discovering that Copper Harbor Mi. had a temp of zero at noon with winds of 15 or more mile per hr. Brr. S,o I called Leslie who lives on the tip top of Bumble Hill overlooking Lake Superior. I was happy to know she was home. Those U P folks are tough cookies. But they also have good sense about bad weather. We had a great phone visit.
Hope, Mi. Kimmy R, Novi, Mi. Marcia O, Me of course and Bumble Hill Mi. Leslie. S.Doug is feeling better but using a heated rice pack to sooth the aches associated with his yesterday
Super good use of rice. I love these when toasty warm from the Microwave.experience. It's helping his chest, shoulder and high back pain. I've left more messages thinking that perhaps the doctor's office was closed for MLK day. The fallback plan if needed is just to head to the E R again. So far so good when it's not needed. And so far so good knowing that help is close.
Late afternoon I pulled out the soup kettle to make some chicken veg. soup. Dah. The freezer is full of soup and it was good I remembered that. The kettle was never filled but chili was the choice made and it was yummy. I made an Apple Waldorf salad. That was delicious. Doug who never comments on food, commented this time on the salad. I must remember to do that more. The chicken I thawed for soup will be a big salad tomorrow night. One of those grape, walnut, celery, chicken meals.
I did a little sewing with the first 10 of the next hundred burps in the box. That work went very fast.
Evening has started and tonight is the Ohio State Notre Dame game. Woo. something good to watch and listen to while continuing on my knitting way. I call all of that good for the mind.
So good to chat! And I love that photo….I am saving it. This old house is keeping us warm atop Bumbletown Hill. We are glad it is built on bedrock.
