Saturday
This morning was a very busy morning. It was soup kitchen day, bread and bowl day or a community eating day at church. Maybe day isn't the real word. I should say morning. I left the house around 8:15 usually leaving at 8. I thought I would take to sitting another 15 minutes. Then off to the south land over the river and through the woods to the church. It's still an all-white world.
The two on the bottom are the new ones. The two on the top will go together, front and back. I have another blue plaid that will be used with the dark blue flannel front and back.
That's the guy standing in the middle of everything ready to jump on the suet. He has a very difficult time hanging on for a nibble because of his size. Suet holders are not made for Robins. I wonder if he is part bossy Starling.
Heidi and James beat me there but not by much. Heidi immediately went to the sanctuary to strip the altar, and I went to the community room to start that exercise. Once again, a lot of work was accomplished, and we began serving meals at 11 with take home bags available. A lot of food is coming in and we sent home a big meal with folks. There were breaks during the morning that turn into no breaks because there was more to get ready for our big grand nativity pick up tomorrow after the second service. So, the morning was full to overflowing. We walked out of the building at 12:45 and once again over the river and through the woods. This time the direction was North.
Finished with the morning's work. It's time to be on our way home.
I stopped at Aldi's to get a few things. Mostly refrigerator stuff. Then there was a trip to Kroger's to look for filters for our Ninja Coffee Maker. Doug and I love that Jared/Kimmy Christmas gift. Kroger's had filters.
Then it was back to Goodwill to look for flannel sheets. They had four! I chose two at my favorite price of 3.99. One is navy blue, and the white one could be King Size, I think. Woo that is a lot of fabric for 3.99. Lucky me and lucky babies and their mothers. More ripping will happen this coming week.

During all of my shopping time, I heard my body say it was time to head home. And of course, when I had satisfied my shopping mind, I headed further north and home. Doug helped to stash the groceries, and I headed to the chair. For some unknown reason where back surgery happened in 2021 there is some pain. The muscle in that spot was removed to patch the hole they made removing the first tumor in my head. So, the heated rice bag for now is the solution. It could have something to do with lifting heavy things this morning.
The afternoon was spent sleeping and watching the birds and a little TV. We have discovered that our one big fluffy Robin thinks he is at the top of the food chain and in charge of who eats what and who doesn't get to eat anything. He main assignment seems to be just taking charge of the bird area. The Blue Birds don't have a chance to eat anything when the boss is watching. It surprises me because the Blue Birds are not intimidated by the Starlings who arrive in big flocks. There is always something new to learn about behavior patterns.

Football took care of the late afternoon. Huston won, The Chargers lost. Sad for Harbaugh.
The snow is still with us. I did a bird shovel early this morning meaning a path to the feeders clearing a way to get there. I suspect the snow will be here for a while. It's so pretty but I'm ready for flowers in January! It's not going to happen.
Let's add a little color to this blog on this January day. Mexican Sunflowers.
