Sunday
Woo. Today went more like what was planned. No ER trip. Just church and football. A usual Sunday.
Yes...up around 7 doing all the usual things. I think you all should know what that means by now. I folded the flannel that was in the dryer. And by 10 we were on our way to church. We stopped in the office to copy some information for our trip to the Simon Cancer Center tomorrow. So, I think all the information is ready for the doctor to complete his part of the pill process.
A green banner for the season hanging from the pulpit. Another one of Doris' creations. There were lots of folks visiting the church attending a session lead by Darren, explaining what North church is about. It's outreach, inclusion stance and other ministries. I had help getting what I hoped would be the last box of used candles to the back door for the trip home for renewal.
Doug was waiting in the pew for me, but as usual I was out and about in the sanctuary greeting folks before the service started. I love talking to people, new or old or no matter what.
A Heidi creation for the service. There was one on either side of the altar. Stunning I would say.A wonderful service put together so beautifully all working toward the goal of the day. Here am I, send me, heard in the sermon, liturgy and music by the choir and congregation. I love it when the theme of the day is so clear. It's back to my thematic teaching years that I loved so much. The commission leaders were recognized at the end of the service. Another example of those accepting the call.
Early afternoon saw the candle cleaning tools come out and with a little scraping and then using a liquid containing petroleum oil, this time stainless steel cleaner, I gave the candles a rub down and they look fresh ready for the next time they are needed.
Over many years I learned a lot about candle dye, candle making, candle cleaning and more.
After candles, there was more flannel ripping preparing for more burps for more Goodwill babies.
Late afternoon it was time to move on to football. We're almost at the end of the season. So with knitting and football and my feet up on the stool, all was well...all was well. There was popcorn for supper and then an evening game.It was a good day with no unexpected events that surprised. Just the usuals and experienced with much gratitude.
Our closing hymn...Verse 3. Take my will and make it thine, it shall be no longer mine. Take my heart, it is thine own, it shall be thy royal throne. Take my love, my Lord, I pour at thy feet it's treasure store. Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for thee.
Dee/Cassian. I'll be looking forward to your wax offering whenever it comes. A church never has too many candles is my way of thinking.
