Monday

Dull days are few and far between.  And today was one of those never dull days.  I was a busy little bee. Morning stuff started early.  There were miles to go, and the first few miles took me to church for a cleanup day as well as a prepare for Sunday day.  The carts with our help collected candles and two of the three containers made it back to their place of storage.  The third one ended up in the sanctuary.  The chapel is ready for more Wed. worship times.

Thistles, spray painted purple appear every Lenten season on the altar.

The sanctuary lost everything it needed for last Sunday and we placed candles and hitched up the light, light, light banner to the pulpit.  It usually is on a T pole standard, but we just could not find a good place for it without glare except on the pulpit.  So, the coming Sunday is ready to go visually.

You are the light of the world.

I stopped at Sullivans and Rosie's to check on flower availability for Easter.  It's time to shop so when ready to buy I'll be ready. We need to do everything we can to make the week before Easter easy.  Yikes, I even have a big cancer scan in the middle of that week.  We'll start the week after Palm Sunday getting ready for Good Friday in the sanctuary and then there is Holy Thursday in the chapel with communion.  That should be easy, I think Then there is crazy Saturday when the troops are ordered in for work. I am so happy to have Heidi walking along side with all of the above.  Crazy, isn't it.  OOPS.  Palm Sunday with an outdoor parade with a real donkey will include big time information about the western Kenya project called Umoja with our Easter offering supporting that project.  I would say North is a busy place.

I was back home by 12:30. With lunch out of the way I decided a walk outside in the garden was a do.  I can't remember a windier March.  It just blows and blows and then does it all over again.  I got rid of more weeds in the garden area.  I raked and filled the wheelbarrow full of B Blue stuff.  Then ripped out some ivy and did more raking.

Once again, I noticed horse radish in its infancy.  I think that's the best time to dig it and I got to it.  I chopped the roots in small half inch cuts.

It was tossed in the blender with vinegar added and got instant HORSERADISH.  So, supper needed meatloaf and twiced made potatoes with a whole lot of herbs added to them.  Yum, yum.

This meal brought back so many far gone memories of my head blowing up.                                                                   When it would quiet down, I'd do it all over again.

Now my mother would have added dandelion salad with a bacon wilted dressing.  Dandelions are very sweet for about 10 days.  When the flower buds start to appear, things change.  Since yards are treated, I would think it's best to skip those greens.  There are enough left overs to try this meal over again tomorrow evening.

A little bit goes a long way.

Soon day will be dying in the west and I take that as a signal to sit on my chair and take a load off my feet.  And tomorrow I am scheduled for my last PT.  We'll see if I pass or fail.  And then there is that second blanket to work on.  It will be easy for sure.

Doug did the Eri pickup tonight taking a jar of horseradish with him.  It seems for some of the Russell's it's a spring thing.

As you might expect the second baby blanket didn't get touched but I could make a better effort tomorrow.  That would be so much easier if it rained.

  1. You say "North is a busy place" well, I say "Lela is a busy woman." I am glad you like horseradish.

We didn't have wilted dandelion greens with bacon - we had wilted endive. Buy it in the store and you can pretend you have no worries about chemical treatments. I loved the wilted endive! Nobody here seems to know about endive or about wilting with bacon.
