Friday

Perfect weather for Blue Bells.  They are popping up in many places.  I'll be happy to put on a sweater if it keeps them happy.  I've heard no complaints from this end of the garden.  The flowers will be showing themselves at the right time.

It was a stay-at-home day.  Last night ended at a very decent hour.  6:45 AM.   2 am passed me by and I'll take that any night.  It was a cool morning, but I did manage to get the paper in for Doug.  This time the paper guy threw the wrong paper.  It was the Wall Street Journal that Doug got to read.  He had to read the funnies online.  Poor boy!  It's happened before and will happen again.

Isn't this stunning.  The sun was out and this close up of the Quince bush is just the best.

I did a garden walk finding not much change.  Who would like to grow in such cold weather.  They are using all their calories to stay warm.  The most recent movers looked pretty good.  It's their kind of weather.

I decided that since all the projects had been finished, it was time to start some new projects.  So, it was a rip-roaring morning of tearing burps and floor blankets.

Now what might a floor blanket be.  Ginny wanted a small blanket for newborns allowing them to lie on the floor learning that their hands and feet can move, they can touch their face, eventually suck their toes and finally even roll over.

Six are finished all with a flannel backing.  So either side will work for baby.

At that point they have outgrown their floor blanket.  So, I ripped fabric in a 28 X 25-inch size creating small floor blankets.  I'm aiming to have 10 for Ginny and the Goodwill babies Sunday. Ginny shared that sometimes a friend may have a baby shower for a new mother, but some mothers have no support.  So, wherever floor blankets are needed I'm sure Ginny and the nurse team will be aware of that need.

I am reminded of my first hospital room mate when Eric was born.  That first time mother was asking me, a first-time mother so many simple questions about taking care of a new baby.  I'll never forget that experience.

There was a lot of time spent in the sewing room/computer room today.  And Doug was funny reading, solitaire playing, joke reading along with e-mail reading right alongside!

I spent some time texting the Michigan family.  They are on spring break as well as our Carmel grandsons.  I sent Kat a text asking her to order six spools of white thread from Amazon.  I'm almost out of white again and I'm sure the price will go up very soon. It's very expensive now, I may need to find another project that doesn't use thread.  Good thread keeps the sewing machine in good shape.  Coats and Clark thread shreds in the machine and causes sewing problems. So, it's German Guttermann for me.

The last from JoAnn's.  I have a bit of Mettler thread. Another good brand from Germany.

A big usurper of time today was using word on the computer.  The coming days at church are filled with to do things.  And typing out what needs to happen always gives me a bit of peace that tells me, we'll get it completed in good time.  Forgetting is not an option.  Now I have time to do a double check.  Heidi will have a copy of my notes.  Two minds are better than one.  So, the countdown to Easter is on its way.  Tomorrow it's a trip to Lowes to pick out the palm trees for Palm Sunday.  Monday is the get ready for Palm Sunday work day.

Evening brought another walk through the garden. An afternoon rain happened as expected and I found some interesting things.

Radishes are up.  Yes, the yard was mowed yesterday so there is also lawn grass in the picture.

The lettuce of many varieties is showing itself along with more lawn grass.

So, a sort of quiet day like today was a good one.

Time to think, Time to think. Time to think.  It's been a good day.  Pacers play tonight.  That ball team is really good and fun to watch.
