Saturday
Well, it was a busy, busy day. I hope to have a reprieve soon. Like tomorrow. But that's not going to happen for a while.
Today was our biweekly community lunch or Bread and Bowl, or soup kitchen day. And we were busy. The line was long and hungry folks were fed. Those who carry the workload today had a big load. There was a lot of preparation, and it all happened before the bell rang at 11 AM. I must admit there is no bell but one always seems to be going off in my head. It reminds me of the school door opening and kids spilling in everywhere. There seemed to be a long clean up after we were closed but eventually all the dirty stuff became clean stuff ready for the Tuesday crew of cooks.
Jack in the Pulpit has multiplied to three parts this year. Can I hope for at least two pulpits this year. We'll see.
Today was the day I felt the small give away to visitor Easter flowers needed to be purchased. I've been shopping and another church lady, Hannah, living on the far east side of Indy will take the flowers home tomorrow, take care of them and cover the pots with floral paper. She will bring them back to church next Saturday, another big visual arts workday. I found flowers at Sullivans and Meijers. So far so good.
Beautiful, beautiful once again.
Church folks come from hither and yon. We need to plan ahead when thinking about making a place for involvement when we live far from each other. North is not a small community church. Folks come from all directions and many close and long distances.
I was glad to be home feeling like the energy pot was wiped out. I had lunch and sat a bit. The garden walk involved digging a bucket of dandelion. Woo. Another wipe out job. I added a good sweep on the patio because we were dragging bird seed hulls into the house. Something that just makes more work.
So sad, the last of the blood root. But the unusual shape of the leaves will be with us. Soon will come the beautiful yellow celandine poppies and close by will be the blue flowers of the money plant. Another reminder of the Ukrainian flag and its people.Another chair sitting and I fell asleep. That was a very good thing. I made some phone calls about the coming church events, making sure that people were comfortable with new responsibilities for both Palm Sunday and Easter.
I took time to clean Hunter's Point rocks. Yes, from Copper Harbor. The gazing ball will have a bed of rocks to sit on just as it did last summer. Where the rocks and ball will be found this year remains to be seen. That's a new spring decision.Day is dying in the west; heaven is touching earth with rest. Another church song memory. Tonight, I'm feeling the first part but I know the rest will be there in some form or other. Tomorrow is the Lords Day...it will be another day of rest and then when Monday comes the beat goes on. Monday morning is the get ready for Good Friday service. Saturday brings the get ready for Easter work day. I have two doctor's appointments in the coming week, Doug has a B 12 shot and through it all, the beat continues the march toward Easter.
Wild Ginger is appearing everywhere. And I just found more blue bells in new places. I love this time of year in the garden. Well, maybe I just love being in the garden anytime of the year. It's my place to forget what needs to be forgotten and remember so many good gardening events. One being bare feet on warm soil. Another a warm sweet pepper with homemade butter and bread slice. a rhubarb stick pulled straight from the plant and washed at the outdoor spicket. Sour as can be. Horseradish that felt like it would blow the top of my head off! Memories. I'm blessed.
