Sunday

Sunday morning church time.  Palm Sunday happening late in the month always brings a parade and there was one today with lots of folks, music and the word.  My body told me that the pew was where I needed to be.  Little aches can turn into big ones, and little is much better than big.  I visited with folks, passes out palms and did my thing as usual.  Church was pretty full.  I would imagine even fuller next Sunday.

This little group was supposed to be yellow.  Well, two finally have bloomed.  They look white to me.  I suspect the bulbs are not deep enough in the ground.  I'll give them another year of grace.  I decided it's nice to have a variety.

Jill Moffet preached a message everyone should hear. Is it Sunday School Jesus or Jesus the rebel with justice in mind? I love to follow her thinking from beginning to end. One never knows exactly where she might take a listener.  It is always interesting and exciting.  We heard about the Umoja project in Western Kenya.  Our Easter offering is given to that program that keeps expanding to serve more children as funds become available.

Callie D Howell was home for the weekend.  I love hearing about her life.  Callie spent 9 months with the Mamlins in Eldoret Kenya as a high school student.  Her mother, Ellen was the founder of the Umoja Project.  Next week Callie is defending her thesis for her doctor's degree in palliative care for dying children. Kenya's dying children spoke to her. She is traveling back to London to defend her thesis. Now that's a true specialty.

After church we moved the Easter flowers on to Andrew and Hannah for safe keeping and Easter preparation.  Andrew will bring them back next Saturday when once again the sanctuary will receive many visual additions after packing away Good Friday.  It seems we are on a moving walkway through the airport called North.

Our old lilac bush that came from our first house is blooming.  Doug keeps saving it.  I suspect it's more than 60 years old being a full grown bush at our first house we moved to 57 years ago.

The afternoon started with the Pacers and the Cavs, this time in Cleveland.  The last game they played and this one as well were peppered with the second-string players.  Currently it would seem the Pacers are on the back side of the nickel saving themselves for the playoffs which start next weekend.  I can't blame them.

The day was windy and cloudy which says cool again.  So, the walks to the garden were short with not much happening in the growth department. Come on May 15th.  That's the planting day but sometimes it happens earlier in May.  We'll see, we'll see.

Now this tulip has no age because I can't remember when I planted it.  It was a long time ago.                       Congratulations to it having not been eaten so far by the deer. There are fresh tracks!

More B ball update news.  With playing through two overtimes, the Pacers managed to come away with a shiny nickel win.  That happened for the second time in less than a week.  The Cavs are first in their division. Heart attack Pacer kids I would describe them as being.  There were naps here and there.  The sewing machine finished 4 more floor blankets and now Ginny can add 20 to her already 10.  Little by little the train gets over the mountain.  30 is a pretty high mountain to climb.  There will be more chugging.

                                                                    Stacked higher and higher.

Tomorrow promises to be a busy day.  Palm Sunday will go back in the box for another year and final chapel prep for Holy Thursday and final sanctuary prep for Good Friday will be completed.  There is another PT session with Roe at 4:30 and then it's off to McAlisters for supper with the north side North Church group. We will be late but late is better than not at all.  Busy is good.
