Friday
What happened today? Not much, is the right answer.
There was the usual morning stuff with the walk around. I found a few more seeds up in another place. I did some fluffing but not much. Just enough to keep the weeds from growing. A canna peaked through in the garden.
It is about two inches high having quite a way to go.There are more Cannas to come. There was a bit of transplanting zinnias, filling in where needed. It was a sunny/cloudy day but one just perfect for sleeping away the afternoon on the patio in Wyatt's chair again. The only thing missing was Wyatt and the sweet breezes off Superior. And I must include that the sky wasn't doing the Superior thing of a beautiful blue. They say we are getting the smoky sky caused by the fires in western Canada. I imagine that will get worse as the summer wears on. We had a lot of that last summer.
This is coming back to life after being smashed by the tree elimination. Plants are moving from shade to sun. We'll see how that goes.I did some texting and made some phone calls. The altar flowers once again are coming from Dot's yard as well as fill ins from our yard. Putting all that together will come about early Saturday morning at the church.
New neighbor Gennia was over and met Doug and I introduced her to another neighbor Kathy. We discussed chipmunks, Gennia having a chipmunk hotel also called a woodpile needing a fix. Yesterday was another zero catch day. Only the second one since starting this spring. Today the number is one but another little guy is running amuck. We'll get him soon.
The big bad wolf is guarding the bird house. Should we tell him that no one is home. The little chair is a gift from Leslie brought home a few years ago. It would use a paint job. I just took a few more pictures and discovered wolf had fallen out of his chair. Poor guard, I would say.So the day was pretty simple. My library books were ready to be returned but that didn't happen. I did make a trip to Habig's for a geranium wanting to fix a Minnow basket as my friend Leslie has filled hers with geraniums for years. When husband Dennis (the C Harbor basket maker and potter) was a little boy these minnow baskets caught minnows giving him a little spending money and conversations with fisherman in the area.
I picked up a pack of beet seeds since the rabbit mowed down a long row of tiny inch high beets. With a hoop of chicken wire covering the row, I hope to protect the next planting.
The row is covered. Now, will it work? Rabbits %$#@^&
