Saturday
The morning was a little complicated, but the afternoon was easy. So here is the story.
There was a huge murder in the garden with a raccoon. I found this on my morning walk.Last Sunday Darren asked me to shorten Haven's robe. And of course I said yes. You heard that part. I was going to take it back to church on Thursday but decided to wait till today knowing that I would be heading south with altar flowers for tomorrow. One trip south sounded pretty good to me. More than once I reminded myself to get the robe in the car so I would not forget it knowing that flowers would also be on my mind. Did I do that. No. Now it's about a 20-to-25-minute drive to church. And when I got to 65th street I remembered there was NO robe in the car. The church is at 38th street and we live at 106th street.
Chapel flowers. What a bummer. I proceeded on to church with the flowers making three arrangements. One for the chapel where the first service will be all summer and two for the sanctuary. Communion is also the first Sunday of the month and I did a little preparation in both places knowing Heidi was on her way to finish that part.
The next couple of Sunday's are provided by the florist. with parishioner support. Then of course it was back home to get the robe. Another 20 minutes home and another 20 minutes at least back to church. But it had to happen. So, I would say it was a morning on wheels. Dot supplied a lot of Peony's and finally everything came together. It was another one of those it is what it is moments.
The afternoon was simple. There was no shovel or rake holding. Very little weed pulling. There was sleeping in Wyatt's chair enjoying the heat of the afternoon. I did a walk around finding another tiny green tip of a canna appearing. It would seem that the bunny found some tiny zinnias, but I have more I can plant from the jug planting. The Pot Marigolds are still asleep in their jug. They take forever to wake up.
Perennial sweet peas are starting to bloom.Doug and I went to Andrew's graduation party that was combined with two other good friends we know who also are graduating this year. It was a great party with lots of church friends attending.
The thought crossed my mind that this might be an early evening to bring another load of woodchips up the hill. I'm still thinking. And after thinking a while Sarah and I brought two big garden carts of chips up the hill to pretty much finish the job.
Another path covered with maple tree chips. The Pacer's play their sixth game tonight. It's time for that last win, boys. The suspense is killing me. Well, maybe but I sure would like to see a good game with a great victory.
So that was the day. Another good one. There are always aches and pains at the beginning of the day but by noon they are off and away. We managed to catch a baby squirrel late last night and two chipmunks today. The beat goes on. Life is good and I am grateful.
