Tuesday.
Today was the day designated to put 2025 Easter back in the box at church. And it happened. We had a good group of Old Timers like me that knew what should happen. And it happened early all because we were working against the 11:30 funeral time for Jim Beck. He and Kathy were one of those long timers at North being over 50 years. We were busy making decisions which could change knowing the next Easter is what seems a long time away.
I ended the day planting the last herb curry plant for at least today. I love something white among all the shades of green. There is mint here, a little tarragon although there is a whole lot more out of sight. Hassop which makes wonderful tea. Remember, wash me with hyssop and I shall be clean. I'd rather drink it although it smells wonderful. I see one broccoli plant. The curry replaced one of the rabbit eaten broccoli. It should grow to be 2 ft tall. The roots are the color of curry! This pepper plant was at least 14 inches tall when I brought it home from neighbor Sarah's house yesterday. She grew it from seed she found at no cost at the library. Rabbit food on their menu. I need to spray tonight.Heidi and I spent a little time talking about Pentecost Sunday. There is a wedding the day before so it will be a bit more low key than usually. But it's a Sunday to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the beginning of the church.
I was on my way home by 11:30. And once again the garden called loud and clear, come and play. And you know I always do. I worked on the area where the big tree fell rearranging the steppingstones to help a gardener walk through that area. A big decision was to take out all the sick zinnias that were bug eaten and not doing well. They never would no matter the effort. I replanted with heather plants and now feel there is more hope in the garden. All have received a blessing of dust.
We finished the sunny woodchip path and it looks great.
I moved on to the side yard where another path leads away from the sunny area into heavy shade. The edges are all neat and nice still with some Georgia pine needles, but it will get wood chips tomorrow if it is not raining.
Supper was b berry pancakes/and applesauce. That's a sign that the body is 99% devoid of energy. Checking the traps after supper allowed us to think the count was 1 for the day even though both traps were tripped. That's why I volunteered to take the traps to the woods. Doug was a bit slow about catching on. While I was writing the blog the trap trapped another one. I kept on writing.
After supper I planted a new jug of Pot marigolds. This one is in the herb family with eatable flowers. Sometimes the plant drives me nuts dead heading and keeping up with spent flowers. So there is lots of that. This is the second try to getting them to grow. There are different shades of yellow that seem so clean in color.
And it's another Pacer game tonight. I hope I can sit through this one. Texting my Cleveland friend certainly will happen more than once. After the Cavs, she's a Pacer having lived here a few years ago.
