Monday

Let me say first...This week promises to be HOT.  I won't be doing much with weather in the 90's.  So here comes a not much Monday.  There will be more days like this.

The night ended at 3 when I heard a bump in the night with Doug falling out of bed.  What entertainment at 3.  That never happened before and will happen again if he insists on sleeping too close to the edge.  It just made me laugh.  Of course, he wasn't hurt but had a hard time getting back in bed, the big rug by the bed slipping on him.  Funny guy for sure.  Well, that ended my night.  When he made it back to the bed he slept till 8:30 again. I'm still giggling.  Poor guy!  He never knows when he's funny.

Today was Dr.day so it was a trip to Indy to the Simon Cancer Center.  I told Doug I thought I could do this visit without him.  I think he was happy about that.  So south to see Dr. Schneider.  He had a few questions.  I had a few questions and we both got answers.  Next visit in three months with another scan coming my way before the visit.  I like that.  Dr. Schneider and his super nice and smart nurse Julie split some jobs and when I was waiting to check out, Julie found me with some unexpected news.  My lab numbers are a bit under where they should be.  I knew that when I got the report last week. Doc said, don't worry.  But there is one White Cell count report that demanded I stop my drugs till at least the end of the week with another blood test Friday checking on numbers again.  They need to be at 1000 and now they are at 700.  Zisqali is doing a super job.  Maybe more than a super job depressing the cancer but also some other things.  I was bummed out.

Protecting the day lilies.  It worked for at least one night.

The news was easy to blow out of proportion. Processing it correctly was the goal.  So, what did I do?  The same thing I did when radiation was a bit of a process I had to work on.  I went to Rosie's to see pretty flowers.  There were plenty but the heat was like getting to close to the hotdog fire.  Hot, hot, hot.  It was time to go home. I must remember this really was a very small health hick-up.

This is what I bought.
Plants for the pond.  No fish yet. We're a little slow.
I think this is called Mother-in-laws tongue.  Bad name.  There are many of these at the Carmel Library.  I have threatened to slice one off and start my own.  They would never miss it, but I held steady with Doug controlling the knife.  Now the temptation is gone. No need to read about me in the paper.

So the rest of the day was easy.  I was appalled to see one of the potted plants on the verge of Harry Carry.  So it got a bucket of water and has recovered.

Complete recover except the flowers once again have been eaten. Oh, well!

This morning the calla lilies got another bucket full of water.

Growing taller.  I'm ready for some red flowers.

Of course, the zinnias think they are at the beach.  I wonder how long that will last.  Supper was another cold apple salad.  Who can cook and who can eat when it's hot?  A little goes a long way.

Today I am grateful for Julie who is watching numbers reported to me with a kind spirit.  I'm grateful for the friendship Dr. S and I have developed.  Today I shared that I had read the History of Cancer THICK book.  He read it also and we both said we couldn't put the book down.  It's a very interesting read.  He is presenting a paper at a huge conference somewhere and noted the advancement of cancer treatments in the last few years are many.  When he started his practice there were four options for cancer patients.  Now there are many with new options available at any moment.

The Have a Heart count is one squirrel for today.  Yesterday was a no show day!!!  I've seen another squirrel.  So, today Gina took her squirrel and our squirrel to the park for a play day.  Humm.  They ran away so Gina came home without them. Just empty traps.

Today was a day of mourning.  Yup, the play offs are over, and we lost.  But even worse is the Haliburton injury. We will be back before you can blink an eye.  Just wait.  I know for a fact; we are a better team for many reasons.
