Thursday

More color coming to the garden. \

So, it's all about Thursday.  It won't be much, but you will get all of it.  I had a great sleep last night.  Upping the restless leg meds to two in the evening instead of one is the ticket to a great sleep.  Breakfast and all that goes with it happened.  And then of course a walk through the garden.

                                                                            More color.

What I tried to fix last night, concerning the storm affected milkweed just wasn't working.  So, the next thing that happened was cutting the stalks down to about half their size.  The heavy blooming top was the problem, tipping over the plant.  The milkweed will regrow a top and be just fine in a month or so.  Where there were too many plants, I just chopped them to the ground. They will be back again. The garden has a greatly improved look.  When the ground hardens again it will be storm worthy.

Some short, some tall.  Something to watch as the summer continues.  I did check for Monarch eggs but found not a one.  Possibilities might happen with the flowers bring color to the garden.  HOPE! Because you can see tomato cages tells you that a bit of space and air has come to the garden having chopped some milkweed a bit short. Storms can change some things very quickly.

Then I moved to the day lilies.  I saw tiny little deer tracks.  Really tiny feet, I would say.  And 20 stems with multiple flowing bud's becoming deer food were gone.  Grr.  I moved some chicken wire with the hope of discouraging the deer from another snack. Deer off was applied again. There is always hope. I bet the deer are laughing at my attempts.

I ended up with another garden cart of stuff ready for the B Blue.

I did a run to the drug store for Doug and this time three prescriptions were ready.  It would seem that the problems of Doug's pharmacy closing with all prescriptions being sent on to Kroger, have found their way finally to 116th street Walgreens.

Then it was off to Bru Bergers for lunch with my teacher friends of many years.  We missed Kay who double booked.  And the three of us all had, once again a more than delicious salad which happens every time for me when at that restaurant.

Back home again and there was another trip to the woods.  New neighbor took the first one this morning along with her caught squirrel.  I'm hoping that is the last squirrel of the season.  They are hole diggers.  It probably will be the last until another one moves in.

Larkspur.  There are never enough of these seeding themselves.                                                                          Do you think I could find seeds at the hardware store?

There has been some tree damage in the neighborhood after the storm and some tree cutting is happening.  I'd like to bring another load of chips to the garden.  Maybe tonight. I pulled some weeds today.  Not many but some.  The recent transplants are not very happy at this point, but I think they will make it. They are living in the only option available.  Changes are hard even for plants.

Doug played his own pick-up sticks game.  It happens once again getting ready for the lawn folks.

AND NOW FOR THE REAL NEWS!

OK...another Pacer game.  Haliburton is hurt.  Another player is sick. New player coming in.  We'll see what the game will bring tonight.  It' would seem to be any bodies game.  Let's hope the Pacer's middle name is Any Body. Fingers and eyes crossed.  All the i's are dotted t's crossed and as Doug would add the tongue is in the right place.  Boomer...take care of this.  (Boomer is the mascot)
