Friday the 4th

Now I call this more than sweet. Sweet peas and daisies.

Not very much happened today.

Holly Hock with seed coming from Bumble Hill in the UP.  I grateful for one plant!                                      Great memories of many more plants blooming while visiting Leslie and Dennis.

I walked the garden as usual and just looked.  One beautiful day lily was left in this particular collection.

It screamed good morning getting my attention.

I spent the morning just loafing around doing not much of anything.  But the afternoon!  I made up for the morning of nothing.

There a few of these left.

We have a very large hard maple tree to the north of the house.  It was planted about 50 years ago, coming from the Oehler woods as a little guy..  It's a beautiful tree and in the fall when the sun shines on the yellow leaves it casts a golden light over the rooms on the north side of the house.  It's beautiful in so many ways. Because the leaves are so heavy and thick, this is a tree that grass doesn't grow under.  But there are a tone of violets growing there.  The deer come and eat when the flowers are there.  But there is other awful ground  cover.  Today was the day for that to go and I stuffed two B Blues with all the aweful.  It was a very hard pull job with clippers when the pull needed some help.  Woo.  The scale said I lost some weight.  I cooled off with a cold shower and pretty much sat for a while.  Doug did a pick up sticks thing with half of the job today and half tomorrow.  I sprayed some strange grass and I am putting today's job to bed.

                                                                    A few of these left.

Supper was Michigan egg salad with lettuce and more water.

Now for the deer report.  Nothing was touched in the back and side yard but the front of the house had evidence of Hosta flower munching.  After supper there is nothing to munch on any Hosta anywhere!

This little cart sure gets a work out with all of the front Hosta stalks, a lot with flowers and some not.                           I'll do a deer spray soon with the hope the plants are left alone.

Animal count 0 for the day.  The neighbor had a dead raccoon we think might have been hit.  That's a guess for sure.  I saw a little vole while cleaning up under the tree.  Cute little thing.  Gray and color and not so fast.  That'a another guess.

This is a sweet little patch of color.

So the 4th is soon over.  Another cold shower is coming my way soon and then I'll be sitting a spell.  Sounds like I'm an old lady.

This is my newest tomato plant.  I think it's interesting that there are two shades of green on this plant.                  I think that is the result of the fertilizer it received when it was planted in the garden.
