Monday
The beginning blooms of one of many cup plants, a native. While I was taking this picture mother B Bird flew out of the nest box.
One of many Mondays. Today was an early wake up with an enjoyable patio breakfast again. We experienced a wonderful thunderstorm last night and all seems to be renewed and ready for another week. There were Godly fireworks, the best kind accompanied with rolling thunder.
All looking pretty relaxed after the rain and ready for some serious growing.I did a quick trip to Ace Hardware for bug spray for me. I'm FULL of bites and getting a bit tired of bumps and being the pin cushion for tiny, tiny mosquitoes. I'm majoring in itch. I picked up a package of lettuce seed for fall planting. There have been years when all the lettuce seeds have disappeared by fall. I'm ready.
An early morning back yard picture. At one time there were a lot of spaces and it's filling in with interesting things. Something new this year that holds a refreshing new feeling. There is no shade here but all sun from 12 to near 5 for now.And Dee, you guessed rightly it if you were guessing. It's just a perfect morning to transplant stuff. A few years ago I never would have thought of this in July. But with a little water and a cloudy day like today, it's a perfect time to wind down the transplanting game. I think I have as of today. When trees go down the environment changes needing shade plants to find shade and sun plants that could have settled into the shady port because trees grow need a switch-er=rew. That happened this morning for a while. I think everyone will soon be in a better mood for the rest of the summer.
A perfect example. These two were planted two years ago near a red bud tree. The tree has grown a lot giving this two buddies permission to stay small in the shade. Well, there is no shade in their new home with no excuse to use. I expect them to get pumped up to the size they should be.A few years ago I told the plants to learn to live with the change. A big tree had fallen and there were many Hosta plants in a new environment. The sun took it's toll because many were exposed to the summer sun during our two week vacation. So, they taught me, and I learned.
More color coming to the garden. Is there a race going on?Today I could have used a Jack Hammer when I eliminated the two mullein plants. They root themselves, meaning to stay forever. That's not my plan. A few straggly milk weed left with them. The garden got a small up lift.
The afternoon hour saw a return to Whisper Hearing. One of my H. Aids isn't working. I hope it can be fixed. They called about an hr. later saying a fix had happened. Woo, woo.
Then it was off to Aldi's for a few things. About half of what usually is the order. I had such a difficult time closing the rear trunk door. It's so high when the parking lot slopes at Aldi's. I can barely reach the door to close it.
So off I went to Penske Honda to get it lowered just a bit when open. That couldn't happen with this model. I found a little hand garden rake in the garage and that can work helping me reach the pull down handle.
It works and cost me nothing. I have plenty of hospital socks! With the can't help you news, I decided that it was time for Penske Honda to wash the car. Those are free and unlimited. Since we live about two miles from Penske, it is not a problem to drive in with a dirty car. So, I did.
Cute little pickles on the way. When bigger they become cucumbers. I need pollinators.Doug didn't shop Aldi's with me, but he did find some surprises when putting the groceries away when I was at Penske. I've got to take care of that guy.
Just before supper I walked the garden again checking all the new transplant. Some are good and some will be better tomorrow.
I did some harvesting today and some of the harvest became our supper along with a Mich. egg.
