Thursday
Thursday all day. That always happen, the all-day thing. It could be any day but it's always all day and then there is all night come to think of it. I was up early with breakfast and discovered that the nibble happened on the coral bell plant. I think the deer are getting a bit out of sorts since I took away some of their delicacies.
All the cannas are teasing me. When do they bloom? I'm looking for buds. In the meantime, the little zinnias are bursting through.I was on the road to Ace Hardware for deer off spray and weed killer before nine. I made up my mind that this was the last bottle of deer off spray. It isn't cheap and pretty soon I'll just let them eat what they want. So far, they don't like zinnias and canna. Now that could change but so far...
Here is a great combination of flowers blooming all at the same time. Cone flowers to the right. Snap dragons of many colors with Becky Daisies in the background. The zinnia should be here in a couple of days.I worked a bit on a neglected corner of the yard. It's shady most of the day so flowers won't work so well. The shade plants could use a little more light but I think they will hang in there. Toad Hall moved in.
I did another rake over, this one being the last under the big Maple tree. It's completely free of sticks now and one that I feel is right for the lawn guys to mow. I'll spray some crazy grass tonight.
I walked the yard finding a few picture places. I moved to Gina's yard and the plants look to being survivors.
I think they are on their way to making it if given time and a cool drink.Who thinks moving big plants in July is a good thing? Not most gardeners. But when the offer comes, one needs to take it regardless of the month. Gina did just that.
Another gorgeous Rose of Sharon filled with flowers at Gina's.The afternoon was full of TV and sleep. Those two things seem to be buddies. So, one would think the TV was limited. It was. There was book time with the thought that a library book switch was coming in the not to distant future. I found this spider in one of the books and I just happened to have the wire used to wrap the chicken wire recently purchased. There is a place for just about everything.
It's a huge spider with all eight legs. Rose of Sharon at our house. Do you know the hymn...Jesus, Rose of Sharon, bloom within my heart. It sings in my head every time I see this flower. Holly Hock. Rose of Sharon must be a first cousin. Don't you think so?
