Thursday

Peter R. never nibbles on these little zinnias.  He just tackles the big ones cutting off a branch and just leaving it to die.  Well, I must say thank goodness for the little zinnias.  But could you just refine your choices to just include a lot of clover and forget about zinnias, Peter?

Woo.  After a day off for personal business, the back to work assignments have not been so easy today.  I might pretend I'm sick one of these days.  So, the day began as it usually does.  And then by 8:30 I was on my way to the drugstore for pills, continuing on to Ace for red beet seeds and then down to North.  Altar flowers are needed for Sunday.  Saturday is soup kitchen day and that usually fills the morning.  This Saturday I'll add flower arranging so, I prepared the vases knowing this will make Saturday a bit easier.

Then it was back home with a little picture taking.  Doug found the Swallowtail caterpillar.  It's growing.  I went back to take a picture, and I once again can't find it.

The get to work bell rang in my head and I grabbed the shovel and rake and with words talking to me I moved on to the next big lawn job.  I spent time pushing back the edges of the paths to where they should be and then attacking the area around the pine trees.  Here is my throw away for the B Blue. It seems there is a never-ending huge meal waiting for them. The pile grew even more.

This is what I accomplished.  It should last till the snow flies with a little touch up now and then.

One finished and one more to go.  They will need a little preen.
On the way to the neighbors. That's it for the path work this year.  Over and out!                                                             I hope to add a few wood chips soon to the paths.

The ice water with a little lemon couldn't have tasted better and the window fans were doing their magic.  I was really hot. What a relief.

The third pkg. of beet seeds are in the ground.  There should be a good rain tonight.
I should have garden beets in Sept, sixty days away if I'm chicken wire lucky.
What a great red color.  Come on hummingbirds.  There are two feeders full of sugar juice waiting.
Pretty, pretty sweet peas.  I think they will be gone soon if the hot weather returns.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with chair time catching up on all the Washington news.  Humm.  one never catches up come to think of it.  The Fever lost last night.  They played New York, the team at the top of their game.  So another quiet evening.  Tomorrow, I'll go flower clipping at Kathy's.  That should be fun.

One more thing.  Doug tells me that milkweed seed pods were used for stuffing life jackets, not para-a-shoots.  Maybe we didn't get the right info.  That was so long ago to argue about.  Life jackets do make more sense.
