Thursday

First, I'm going to write about the hungry birds.  It's summer when there are a whole lot of seeds being produced elsewhere for all the sparrows.  The woodpeckers have learned to eat at the finch feeder.  The finch are seen often. The hummingbird feeders are still filled, and we see them daily.  So, we're not all bad.  Maybe just half bad. That's good enough for me.

This brings me to those TV adds about providing food for hungry dogs.  I always think about the hungry children. I've seen no adds for hungry children. The lack of government funding, my tax dollars for food here and across the pond will cause many children to suffer. Food helps to develop the mind.  What are we doing?

All the morning stuff happened, and the garden told me that the iris needed to have some attention.  That happened although I missed a lot of them in one of the beds.  I'll get that done tomorrow.  Most of the iris have been trimmed back with what I call a haircut even though they don't have hair.

One of two groups clipped this morning.  It's one of those standing on your head jobs.

My hope is that the rhizomes will be able to store energy for next year's blooms.  Now is that something that happens? Heck if I know!  They just look better clipped with the brown floppy stems gone.

                                                                    More of the same.
That part of the garden now has some space that helps all who live in that part of the garden. It can breathe again.  The air can blow through. Everything has its own space to show off.  I quit at 10 with another cart full to show that something happened.  A cold shower fixed this gardener.  There is a promise the day will be HOT!

The chair felt wonderful, and I sat until it was time to leave for another lunch with my schoolteacher friends.  It was off to a Thi restaurant.  I love, love Thi food.  I chose the place to eat this month.

The last daylily of the year.  I found it behind a lot of other things.

The restaurant is in a mall that also has a Goodwill Store.  So, of course I needed to visit. But I couldn't t think of anything I needed except a purchase of an outfit for a student at School 43.  Church is helping to cloth needy children.  Age isn't very important.  Any size would be fine..  I found a real cute bottom and top  of course for perhaps a 2nd grader.  Woo.  The store is full of wonderful selections of like new clothing all for 1.99 each.

The pants are long.  They are hanging over the table.  There's a cut little bow at the neckline.

The cashier asked if I was shopping for my granddaughter.  Impossible! But I had a chance to share what our church is about for the children at School 43.

Then it was on to home and a cool spot by the fan and the TV.  There was another supper using left over food from Soup Kitchen last Saturday.  Yum, yum. I made 5 meals out of food from church this week.

I would say it's a meat pie without the pie.  Maybe a meat wrap.  Two meals are in the freezer.

The evening will be another quiet one.  Another Fever game this time with Las Vagas.  We might have a chance.

And yes...the day was very HOT. The promise was kept. It helps to be quiet.

  1. Thanks for explaining the birds - I forget they are fed by Someone other than you - they do not even need to store their food - and they still have plenty to eat!
