Tuesday

I had a huge laugh over that 4000 plus Mondays.  I said I was bad at math.  Chuckle, chuckle. Big Whoop!  I'm blessed to have all those Mondays.  I need a refresh on multiplication.

I hope this makes you feel blessed and better.                                                                         Becky's can do that if one just relaxes and lets them minister to you.

Now for the fresh news...Starting with last night.  Yes, after sitting for a bit I was back in the garden with chicken wire, wire cutters and stakes.  And this is what I did.  All found a place in the "box" except the tomato.  Plants were watered and dusted with bug dust and rabbit repellent and put to bed with a top on the "box" to surprise the deer.

Rabbit proof? All are accounted for at this moment.

That was the evening in the garden.  Should I mention the bites that got itch liquid?  It's all part of this gardener's experience every summer.  I can't seem to remember bug spray for me.

The deer visited overnight, and more lilies lost their flower buds.  It makes me want to snip off all of them, but I always think I might get lucky.  Last night's meal included far from blooming buds.  The flowers would have been a dark orange, almost rust in color.  Should I advertise a come dig your own daylilies party at the end of the summer?

This morning the calendar said it would be a day at home. Yeah!

The first thing I noticed this morning was the big H a H trap door was down.  I found an opossum sitting quietly inside.  Now this is not such a bad animal.  They eat lots of rodents, voles, moles, ticks and green stuff.  Could this have been my red beet, cabbage eater big enough to move chicken wire protection?  Maybe!  He's playing in the woods with all of our other relocated folks.

Another animal to add to the H a H list.

Later in the morning a chipmunk joined the playground game. I did the first trip with Doug. Doug did the second trip. I guess I left home at least once today. Doug did a third trip with a squirrel. Three different animals.  That's a new reality for one day.

It was a gardening morning with more zinnias transplanted.  There was a light rain over night, and the flower beds seem to be in good shape. More color is emerging but there will be about 90% more when they all are contributing.  Sorry to say, no lilies. The Vinca are almost at their best.  No problem there.  I had thrown rabbit repellent in many places.

Poor thing.   It gets worse before it gets better.

After cutting down the rabbit's yarrow home a few days ago, this morning I decided to dig it out.  I could make better use of the space.  If left alone the yarrow would take up even more space.  So, digging got the job done.  I didn't eliminate all of the purple yarrow, but it's greatly reduced. There is basil on both sides of the walk.

The bunny's home has one steppingstone to mark its former existence.  The path got a sweep.                                 I continue to find purple yarrow stems on the ground.  Rabbits must like cut flowers.                                       Don't ask me to provide vases. They will need to find their own.

My mother edged all of her flowerbeds.  It must be genetic. One of the flower beds had a ''bow" where I didn't want a "bow".  Out came the string and shovel that proved there really was a "bow".  That was corrected, thanks to my mother's influence.  I don't think it's very unusual to have a mother sitting on one's shoulder.  She taught me a lot about gardening.  Thanks Mom!   She hated Johnson Grass. Yikes.  We heard about that more than once or twice.  Understandable, Mom. I do to.

The edging line looks better.  The bow is gone. Doug doesn't get my obsession.

I worked till 11:30 fussing with whatever needed fussing with.  The garden wheelbarrow needed emptying. I needed a shower.

Doug got his yearly hair and beard cutting done in the afternoon.  I think it looks like a yearly event but I'm being a bit sarcastic.  Can you tell.  It's never done soon enough but I also feel it's his and not my decision to determine when. I have other decisions to make.

Found playing in the patio garden in the afternoon was a mom squirrel and her baby.  I left some super good peanuts with black sunflower seeds that might be instrumental in getting them to the woods.  We'll see.  The only thing I can add after an adult was trapped was that another adult took its place almost immediately.

This guy is about 6 inches long when he's munching.  Running really stretches him out.

With another busy morning, the afternoon was TV, sleep time.  It's so easy to do.  I checked on a few things doing the rounds.  Got supper going once more. I'm wondering how many of those I did.  Don't tell me.  I just want to wonder.  All the transplants got a second drink before we ate.

The Fever play tonight but I don't think I can get their game.  So, I'll just check from time to time with my iPhone.  I loved today, even though to cool off, I stuck my head under the kitchen faucet at one point. The cold water felt sooooo good. Plants are looking like they are in the right place.  There is more protection in the garden.  The animals are in a better place, out of my yard!  The beat goes on with Larry, Curly and Moo.  What more could I ask for?  Humm.  I'm thinking deer!

Thanks for reading.  Love you all.

Question for Michigan Judy.  The Lupine seeds...do I leave them to dry on the plant.
