Wednesday
Another simple day. I could get used to this. Another Patio breakfast with my iPhone checking on things that made no difference. The weather being one thing I couldn't change so what difference my thinking weather would that make.
Sum and Substance in three sizes reminding me of the 3 Bears. This is the middle size Hosta.I grabbed the clippers and garden cart and met with all the daylily stalks that needed clipping. So, the cart started to fill. I moved on to gathering up all the piles of weeds I pulled yesterday. Then feeling brave, I moved to the north side of the house ready to face whatever the deer created with the Hosta bed. On the way I found the mid-night snacking area.
The north side escaped. Yahoo. The papa sized Sum and Substance.
But the time had arrived to do some cleaning out. All the ostrich ferns got trimmed back. Weeds were pulled and the place looked a bit more organized, but I certainly would not say that all the work had been completed. It just looked a bit better to the gardener. When the garden cart was full, I delivered the load to the three big blues at the street. Without a doubt they were fuller and even more ready for the big blue trucks.
It would appear that the B Blues are messy eaters. With that finished I called the workday over. Now it was just a day, and I took that to tell me whatever happened, I would not do any work. The clouds over head stayed there all day long with a rain now and then. It was light in nature but there was enough to say watering happened in spirts. I checked that job off.
What a gift. I am so fortunate. Then came a big BUT in the afternoon. I had promised myself to do a do again with the huge maple tree. The mowers were coming, and I thought if I got the do again finished, I'd get the violets mowed off by the mowers. And finished happened and under the tree got a great mow which should take care of that area for at least a little while.
Nice and neat. That hasn't happened for many years. Strange grass is in the process of dying.
I found two poison ivy spots in the flowerbeds and that got a poison squirt. Doug filled a big blue with sticks from under the tree. I almost filled a Big Blue with other stuff from under the tree. Now for sure finished fits the rest of the day. It would seem we're getting ready for next Wednesday!
Neighbor Gina was busy almost all day after finding a lady who had just moved wanting all the flowers gone from her new house, with bushes planted instead. Gina's car was more than full holding some really good stuff and she's been busy all day digging holes. Changes are a coming across the street.
A patch of Sensitive Fern. I'll never clip this off. Complements of the North swap. The garden looks great. I am thankful, grateful and feel blessed that all look in the mood to grow. The bunnies are around but their favorite foods are protected. So, they are into what I think should be their second favorite, clover.
This Hosta is called Spilt Milk with traces of white in the leaves. It's a hardy little Hosta. The Fever are playing tonight. I won't miss that. C C is healthy again, playing tonight. Yea!!!!! Well...I missed it. They played at noon. That was breakfast time in California! WHAAAAAAAAT is going on. They lost!!!
