Saturday
I started the day with pills as I usually do. This was the last day of a three-week assault on cancer. Now comes a wait to see the results of my blood test numbers next Friday. Will my numbers pass or do I wait another week for better numbers to appear. What ever, what ever. I'll be find.
A beautiful short grass in full bloom. So pretty, so deliquiate. The patio breakfast was so quiet. Not a sound in the air. Sometimes it's birds and sometimes depending on the direction of the wind, we hear traffic noises from 465. Today, NOTHING! I decided that a little watering would happen this morning. So, the hose got pulled to the garden and two more areas received a little drink. More watering should happen tonight.
A Jack in the pulpit seed pod. I would say interesting and beautiful being one of a kind.I made the decision to work with dead heading while the water ran. That's a good combination of events since it is known turning the water off has been forgotten in the past. That's not a good thing. Some things are looking good and some not. The not includes cabbage plants. Cabbage type plants hate heat and we've had plenty of it. I learned that Rosie is getting fall vegetables in the shop in a couple of weeks Then with the water turned off I headed on to church to retrieve some paraments needed for a little jazzing up. I'm sure Sr. Pastor Darren example of JAZZY will be honored. I met Patty there who was sorting fall school uniforms and other clothing for School 43. She accepted my help which I hope made the job go a bit faster. Parishioners are making donations and sorting by three sizes, small, medium, and big is the order before it's moved across the street, and north a few blocks to 43. Nothing very difficult. I would say. Easy transport.
I drove north again, made the fall veg. inquiry stop at Rosies that you have read about, and then home for lunch and a nap. The Colts are playing Gr. Bay this afternoon. That is not to be missed. Doug came in from the garden with a leaf eaten milkweed. Sure enough, a Monarch caterpillar was found on a chewed up eaten tired looking milkweed leaf. Doug is so good at finding things. That includes what I loose. I got the butterfly cage filled with milkweed, and there it was. What I thought was a goner, I found a Black Swallowtail flying around in the cage very much alive. And when the escape was made it flew directly to the Butterfly bush for nourishment. Must have been a hungry one. Once again, the early afternoon garden was filled with butterflies black, yellow, and orange among smaller white and pretty light green ones. What a treat. I often think of how nature with Gods help has filled the air with interesting creatures, high in the sky, midair and then nearer to the ground with ground pollinators we need providing food. What a beautiful plan.
Another North swap item. This time a Thanksgiving cactus. It looks lovely growing just as it should. I have managed to kill a bunch of Xmas cactus over the years. One is still growing nicely outside with Ms. Thanksgiving. But then the cold weather comes and for the most part, the cactus is doomed. This year the iPhone has received a watering reminder. I think Mr. Jared felt sorry for my plants.Supper happened and Doug did another round of the garden looking for caterpillars. That takes a whole lot of patience. He has that. The evening watering happened again. I've left the hose ready for another section tomorrow. The clouds to the east were dark, dark blue. That should have happened in the west if rain was to benefit us.
Meet my neighbor Gina, a not too long ago resident of Florida. She spent the day planting astilbe plants. A whole lot of them. I would say it was hot out. She might say pleasantly warm with a little sweat added. She's a gardener with a little farm blood flowing through her veins have a gardener's blast of fun. I would say one extremely motivated person always busy doing and not afraid to sit in dirt to tackle a job. I'm happy for her. Her eyes are closed to eliminate blowing dirt.Another one of many good days. Seeing friends and sorting pants, shirts and more for school 43 students was a super mind filler. More thinking on the series of sermons on prayer, watching and talking to neighbor Gina, watching a little football, picking huge tomatoes and looking for caterpillars filled the day with good thoughts. I am blessed. God and I can take care of the mind, God and the doctors and following rules can take care of the body. All bases are covered. Thanks be to God.
