Saturday

A wonderful way to start the day with a morning glory.                                       I just wish they didn't crawl over everything, but they do.  Cleanup will be in a couple of months.

Thanks be to God.  An unbelievable 10 hours of sleep.  Woo. Woo.  I guess it can happen.  I got myself together and it was off to Bread and Bowl soup kitchen morning at North.  And we worked.  The crowd was big and noisy.  So, I guess friends were visiting big time.  That's what we like.  The food lasted.  My spot was working in the kitchen filling plates with vegetables during serving time.  Then I became the dishwasher.  Woo.  It's always a challenge to scrub out the three pans of food that are heated in the oven.  But it happened again.  I kept up with everything and we left the church by 12:25. I like that.  It's a busy on your feet job with not much sitting so out the door on the way home is sooner than later, the best of all worlds.  Before the last guest left, I shared tomatoes with Virginia, a sweet lady from Mexico.  She was so happy to have them.  On the way home I stopped at Rita's house with 2 more huge tomatoes.  There was also a big thank you heard.

This morning I snipped off branches of tomatoes.  Virginia got the red ones.  I hope the green ones will ripen.  This afternoon I rolled more red ones off for Gina.  I think that's a better harvest plan.

Then on to home for my own lunch.  I sent a garden visit invitation to Kathy O and she appeared in the afternoon.  That was another good visit with a Hibiscus Tea Time.  She also has a red Hibiscus and really enjoyed a glass of the good stuff.  We watched all the butterflies and there was a peak at all the caterpillars waiting to become who they really can become.  I must add fresh food and give their house a good clean out.  Kathy took more tomatoes home.  They are so yummy.

Neighbor Gina continues to be busy with planting more daylilies or should I say DEER food.  I guess the deer now have a chance to pick and choose from both of our yards.  Planting is continuing across the street and we should have a more beautiful entrance from the north to our subdivision.

Looking into the cage, the pupa on the left is a Swallowtail and the pupa on the right is a Monarch.

The Colts planed the Bengals this afternoon with a big win for the Colts.  Now that needs to continue.  They are looking pretty sweet, but we'll see just where the season goes for this year.

You might have heard about the children's book, Everything Poops.  I took some time in the afternoon to clean the caterpillar cage. They are part of the everything world.  And surjprise, surprise.  I mentioned some tiny black caterpillars with white bands.  I understand they are black swallowtails.  While cleaning the cage I discovered a whole lot more of the same caterpillars that must have been eggs while I gathered the parsley.  Yes, there will be more swallowtails.  Nature certainly fooled me.

The Swallowtail caterpillar on the left is ready to pupate. It climbed on a milkweed which is Monarch food.  The two to be Monarchs didn't need it anymore.  It's recycle and reuse for the Swallowtail. The tiny black with white bands are munching in the upper right corner a little harder to see.
Pink Morning Glories just getting started.

The afternoon included sitting alot giving some really tired legs a chance to recuperate.  That lasted for quite a while.  They were screaming for attention, not approving of the long morning. The evening included a bit of TV and knitting.  It was a great people day. Tired is OK if there is a reason.  Tired is not OK if there is NO reason.

I am so grateful for another day of living, visiting with friends and providing food for hungry folks. Life brings a purpose and that is a gift.
