Sunday
Today was what some might call a nothing-burger. Well, maybe some of it at least. As usual I was up early with breakfast on the patio with the paper. Eating took longer than the paper reading. That often happens but I must say with the new approach to news gathering for the Star, there is a lot of news in the paper. I guess I'm not curious about some of the news.
I was ready for church and just before Doug picked me up in the driveway I had a good morning visit with Gina. She has iris to plant looking for a spot. I left her with the looking part.
Monarch Caterpillars were brought to church and shared with the children during their together time during the preaching hour. The cage is filled with fennel and dill. They had a feast.Church was good with seeing so many friends that have walked miles with me over the years. I would say 58 years of walking. It's a wonderful thing to know two and three generations of family units who are wonderful supportive friends. Jill preached this morning on Faith. Her sermon skills are quite commendable allowing one's mind to stay with her words so easily. This Sunday's service included the blessing of the backpacks of which there were many. Teachers and preschool through adult students were also included which made quite a big group. So, it was another Sunday with words and memories one could take home again for another week where surprises might come.
The opening song at church this morning. Jill is on the right and Darren on the left. Small pictures but mighty in stature. On the way home we stopped at Rita and Bobs to drop off the flowers placed in the chapel for the first service. They were appreciated.
So, you have heard about the something burger for the morning.
The afternoon was mostly sleeping, sitting and then sleeping again. It seemed too hot to move. That could be a something burger but perhaps more like a nothing burger. I did accomplish one thing and that was removing the elastic from two fitted flannel sheets that eventually will become burp cloths. They found their way into the washing machine via Doug, now closer to a new beginning for them.
The afternoon was warm again so staying with the fan was what I prescribed. I thought that was a prescription I could handle. Sewing will start when the weather tells me it's cooler.
I received a Jared text saying that tomorrow's Midland Fair sheep judging would be online. I spent some time early afternoon finding that site, but it was not listed as happening tomorrow. But sure enough, by evening judging was listed for tomorrow morning at 9. I typed in Midland Michigan 4-H Fair YouTube.com I think it should work tomorrow when action starts.
So, the TV when I wasn't sleeping was the afternoon entertainment along with some iPhone stuff. The Fever won their Saturday evening game. It was fun to watch. I like a big gap between scores. That happened. So they keep on giving even though it seems that some of the good players are hurt. They say that the girls really like each other and want to help each other be the best they can be. That makes a great team.
The coming week seems pretty tame. I'm back with my heart doctor on Thursday and that's about the only excitement I see on the calendar. I expect the same old same old information. OOPS! Hearing Eli 4-H details will certainly give me a lot to think about. I suspect the anticipated box will be arriving near the end of the week.
Eli will be in the senior class for showmanship. He and his sheep Doug M are in division1with other sheep of similar weight. Then winners of each weight division compete for grand champion statis.
