Sunday
Now isn't this a wonderful way to start today's blog. It's the Michigan Russell's garden. So pretty.
Easy wake up and then as usual, at 10 we were off to church. Another week under my belt. There have been many with the hope there are more. There was another chance at hearing the choir rehearse which always is so enjoyable. Another great sermon pushed us on to another week filled with something to think about.
Then home and lunch. The outdoor temperatures reminded me of a sweet low humidity fall afternoon. What a gift. I got my afternoon sleep in and then decided to walk the garden. The two hibiscuses in the garden are bloomless now. I pulled out the cart and decided to shave their size down to where I could see other things blooming.
Off with their heads and I found the tall cosmos blooming. Well, some blooming. The dead heads were clipped making a little more room for all. There should be more fall blooming cosmos soon.Dill stocks had lost all their seeds. The sick vegetables were pulled out and the ground prepared for fresh healthy fall vegetable plants. That should happen soon. The cart was filled as it usually is. Ms. Red H. as of this afternoon is also bloomless. A clipping should happen this week for the very same reason. Uncovering other blooming plants the butterflies love. I spotted a flock of hummingbirds this afternoon. Well, for me three is a flock. I'm thinking they may be planning their trip south soon.
I dug a red bud tree for neighbor Gina. Let's hope it does well. We looked at parsley and Gina told me about one caterpillar she found. It got moved to the cage and later in the day to satisfy some Gina interest, I moved a Swallowtail chrysalis across the street allowing her to see the birthing of another butterfly in about 10 days. It seems like magic that I'm so happy to share.
Gina's handsome little friend to keep track of. I hear she's using it as a diversion to work!Once again, the garden was filled with butterflies all afternoon. It's so interesting to see the flite pattern that happens with such active creatures enjoying the afternoon sun. There will be so many to release in the coming weeks. I may need to buy some parsley!
My Alaskan buddy received a brushing today. No more thinking he is a dead possum in my yard, Kathy. And here is a really dead possum in Kathy's garden. My "friends" send me such interesting pictures. Don't you think?
The TV rest included watching football games. What a wonderful sign that the seasons are in the process of changing. Sore hips kept Stella in the garage. We'll see if we can have a walk tomorrow. At least that is my hope. I experienced a good night of sleep and anticipate that will continue. The calendar shows an easy week. That's a gift I can use. Wishing all of you the same. So until tomorrow evening...
Back in his cage where he belongs. I know a good thing.
