Wednesday.
Such clean, pure colors, complements of the zinnia family.
What I though was going to be the work of the day turned out to not be the work of the day. Something else came along. I'm always in a hurry to harvest seeds. Hurry never works. Seeds need to show maturity and dryness. Well, there were just a few zinnias ready with those two things. So...I just did plain old dead heading for about 80 % of the plants. 20% more to go. I also decided what group will turn into seeds. I won't touch them until that happens. Patience, kiddo.
The work doesn't get much better than this with the morning sun, a cup of coffee finished, flowers and butterflies nearby. My "classroom" was very enjoyable. The students were well behaved. Oops. I forgot Stella. Don't tell her I left her off the list. But dead heading certainly will turn on the buds and there will even be more color in the garden. It's almost overpowering. I have a system that works well that can take me far when gardening. Yes, it's called Stella. I just snap on her brakes to keep her from dumping me and I'm good to go for quite a spell using the seat she comes with. Good old Stella. She's been with me since Feb. of 2021. Such a good friend that provides support like others are unable to do.
The combination of morning and afternoon snipping made the wheelbarrow look smashingly. And the sunshine brought out all of my butterfly friends. Ms. Black Swallowtail was so interested in the flowers, almost sitting on my lap while I was snipping away.
There she or he is sitting, just about 18 inches from my lap. There was no hurry for her for sure. I am the shadow. The empty spaces will soon be filled.I checked the caged caterpillars to see if more parsley was needed. Sure enough. Munching was continuing. Much to my surprise, while clipping new parsley, I found another caterpillar. I've lost count how many are enrolled in the College of Caterpillars right now. I would say there are a lot.
Once again, the day started with Stella and I taking a walk around the big block. I met another neighbor and had a great visit. I encouraged her to walk the garden anytime she would like to do that. Nothing would be finer than be found within the garden in the summertime. I think we have hit the peak for blooming but there is still much to see. I always feel there is a slow up hill in the spring till the peak and then the downhill picking up speed with winter on the way.
Wed. as you know is B.Blue day. I would be surprised if we see the mowers since it has been rather dry the last week or so. I gave the Holly Hocks a drink this morning and will check on other things this evening. Especially the late tomatoes. Water is the vitamin that helps to make them big.
Supper again was the last two stuffed peppers. I took pictures but I'll spare you D/C. That is unless you scroll to far. Then it's your fault. The Fever won big last night. The competition wasn't so hard.
