Tuesday
So, what was today like. It started with the same you know what stuff that most folks start with. Then it was a trip to you know where...the garden.
Doug was taking the picture. This is a Grant Wood, American Gothic my style. Well, I do look a little happier come to think of it. And I hope not so old, wearing my work cloths It's not exactly my Sunday best as in the Wood version.Today's snipping job kept on going till around 10 with the south gardens now Susan less but more to do on a tangled mess on the north end of the yard. It would seem I'm needed there next.
There is still color but the space behind the zinnias is CLEANED out. Woo, woo!Plants are fighting for space on the north side of the patio, and a volunteer tomato is crawling over everything. Mess, mess for sure. But that little trimmers will get the job finished. Just not today. The B Blues are full, and a huge pile of clippings is waiting for space in the big blues that will sit at the street next Wed.
Weary, willing and waiting. I don't think the pile is moving tonight
So, I had lunch and time to cool off although the temp was much better working in the morning than an afternoon like yesterday.
I sat for a spell on the patio thinking about my caterpillars, looking online for information about caterpillars waiting till spring to show up as butterflies. Yes, Swallowtails can do that, and I think I have a lot of snoozers in my cage. It wouldn't surprise me at all if that's the case this year. I would say they were late starters. And yes, there are care suggestions to help them along. The garage seems to be a place to let them sleep over winter.
I decided a sitting job would be a wonderful idea. So, I grabbed the drying zinnias with the goal of pulling them apart exposing the seeds. That's a long job and I found good seeds and some not so good seeds. A planting suggestion would be to dig a shallow ditch about 6 ft. long and just dump the zinnia seeds, peddles and all in that ditch. Then transplant what appears when two inches high. Fingers cross as all gardeners think in the spring, when looking for growers. That process was successful for me this spring. The current plan is to fill paper envelopes with seeds and hand them out to church folks on Creation Care Sunday adding a few directions.
Doug and I made a library visit with returning books and bringing more home. More garden books for me.
Cowboy and Indiana books for Doug. I think! Now who turned the camera? Anyway, I'm usually wrong about Cowboys and Indians. I think it's just Cowboy stories. Forget about the Indians.
Busy day with no naps, just busy stuff. I'm keeping this body moving and it seems to happen naturally right now. I would say it is a part of good health practices even with cancer hanging around! Out, Out $#$%^$$#n Cancer. It's been a little more than a year since hearing, there is no cure but living longer is possible. Life can't get much better. I count my blessings, naming them one by one!
We are expecting a great visit from Bill and Penny tomorrow, Jared's, in-laws and Kimmy's parents. They are at a conference in Kokomo, just a short way north. Happy to be with them again.
Another packed day with what happens every fall and what doesn't happen every fall. Thanks be to God for so many things. It's been a fun day staying on my feet, never boring, just fun!
