Friday

Here we go again. Another day of doing important things such as taking care of my health.  There was another good night of sleep for sure telling myself I didn't want to get up.  That's a good thing for me.  But I rolled out a little after 7 taking my time. There were breakfast and a little cleaning up.  Not much, just a little.  I found the Whisper Hearing appointment card and discovered I had not entered this on my calendar.  That's really a bad thing but the appointment is next Monday.  Woo!

Today was my bloodwork day and my Fulvestrant shots.  Humm...I discovered my phone said they were scheduled for 8 am.  And it was 7:50 already.  It's a 10-minute drive to the hospital.  So out the door I went with no hesitation.  Five minutes late bothered me more than it bothered the desk workers who get the ball rolling for patients.  There was even time for talk which was a good thing.  Blood was drawn and then I was on my way to the second floor for the two shots.  Those take a while because the serum needs to be warmed after I arrive moving from a frozen state to a shootable liquid.

And I was back home before 9.  Later in the morning I learned I had passed my blood test and can start again on my cancer medicine. The body shows recovery from tough going cancer meds taken for three weeks. What a gift from above and from doctors who have learned how to treat all kinds of cancers.

Soon after arriving home a phone call from the drugstore told me that more medicine was ready to be picked up.  There would be another trip north to do that with the chance for an Ace Hardware pick up

The Ace Hardware run was for electrical tape for my iron cord.  Through all these years of sewing, I've run through a few irons. The one I'm using was purchased before I was a part of the Russell family.  This iron was Doug's grandmother's iron.  When all the other irons quit on me, I pulled the only one I had left out, and it's been the iron of the day for at least 15 or more years.  It's light weight, small with no steam and just perfect for burps.  But the cloth cord cover was fraying horribly.  I was expecting sparks to fly. That cloth cord cover tells me that it is old. I finally remembered tape and made an intentional Ace run for black electrical tape.  And the iron may have a chance to last for another 15 or so years or more.  It has been dropped, left on overnight and it's still hums right along giving me what I need.

I spent some time walking the mile again at the Y listening to Chopin again.  What a master of the piano.  I love it.  Then Rita and Bob walked in, and I decided to try a Silver Sneakers class.  Woo.  I left the Y with a bucket empty of energy.  And living room windows? They are still waiting with the promise that next week should see warmer days.  That's easy to put on my to do list for next week.

The birds continue to be a bit sparce. I'm sure they are finding food in the wild. This morning, we did see three different woodpeckers at the feeders at the same time.  Surprise, surprise.  The downy roosting up on high.  The piney waiting at the suet, and the red belly at the peanuts. Sparrows and finch are here from time to time with the cardinal not far behind.

And of course it is Halloween evening.  We don't have many trickers, but the candy bowl is ready.  Gina and I sat outside with hats on.  We were the mad hatters!  We really weren't too mad. Well, no one came by for the 30 minutes we were sitting with hats.

Last night was a football night and tonight it's back to the World Series.  Toronto could end it all tonight if I'm correct. I'm still "Canadian." So, bring it on.
