Saturday
The day started early and to fill those early hours after eating breakfast I decided to sew. The goal was to top stitch as many burps as possible. And the number completed was 50 with top stitching on all 50. The sewing machine was good to me and as soon as I finished the 50, it was time to climb into the car and be on my way to church.
There is the evidence. It was Bread and Bowl Day. So, I got to work with Sarah Ellen arriving soon after I did. We knew there would be 3 and maybe 4 workers for sure and Carol and Dick made the six we needed. So, the work began and we moved right along. There was time to sit and visit although the sitting part is never long enough. We served about 50 folks, and the morning flew by. After all the morning preparation, I served food and did dishes at the 11 o'clock hour. Before leaving, the altar flowers having arrived were placed in the sanctuary for tomorrow's service.
So, arriving home felt very good. I ate lunch and did a lot of sitting after that. I wanted to stop at Wild Birds on the way home but forgot. The afternoon had that visit included. Winter food is on hand now. There will be visitors at the feeders while the food lasts. I'm looking forward to that.
Finch food, peanuts, mealworms and more were on the list. The sunflower seeds are plentiful.
I heard a loud woodpecker and found one banging on the siding of our next-door neighbor. That's not such a good thing. Our plastic house is not so delectable.
I spent some time on the chair with my eyes closed as I usually do on B and B Day. Soup Kitchen Day is just a real energy sapper for me.
Gina came over for a short visit. One of these days there will be more plant moving times. Some to her house and some to a different place in my garden.
Despite how tired I can be, there are times when just being in the garden gives me energy to make a few changes. That was the case late in the day. More things made it to the B Blues. Just one garden cart full.
Sad, Sad but next spring is on my mind. What surprises will happen in 2026. Just a half ring of Autumn Joy remains. They had a very hard time growing this year.I managed to dig out a shepherd's crook and move it to a better place when I can watch birds from the kitchen window. I swept the patio clean and did a little more clipping. Not much but just a little.
The peanuts are back. The meal worms are back, and the favorite black sunflower seed continue. In a nutshell, that was the day. And the evening will be quiet with the agenda being pretty simple. Even with all the ups and downs, and ins and outs of a busy Saturday, it was a good day. Tired can be good if one knows the reason. I do. Busy days speak loud and clear.
Even though some flowers have called it over, others are still perking along.
