Sunday

Another good day to do some good things.  So, I thought the night was short, but I miss read the clock.  I can say it was another good night of sleep with the usual morning things.

Slow and easy is what I call Sunday morning.  The paper came in from the street for Doug.  I did a quick read through, and the Sunday paper was full of EVERYthing.  It would take hours to read it all and that's exactly what Doug will be doing all afternoon with the TV tuned to the Colts/Arizona Cardinals game.

We headed south to church, this time missing the choir rehearsal because it was a short one.  My lose for sure.  I had a few questions for some folks and got a few answers.  Then it was time for the Eleven O'clock service.  Darren preached the last sermon on prayer emphasizing the prayers of Jesus.  It has been a good series with a lot of interest. The bells played and as usual Noah was dinging his bells.  Noah, being a part of North's church family warms my heart.  All the grandsons are church goers.  Sweet, sweet.

I know you have seen this before, but the flowers and buds continue to grow in number.                                                                      I call it amazing. It just doesn't stop.

After church Heidi and I headed to the attic to get a couple of gourds that will become wren bird houses for the Umoja fund raiser.  So, I'm all set hoping to have the houses asap.  We pulled some nativity drawers that the youth will bring to the main floor in a few weeks.  Yes, it's time to think nativity sets.  Just more church work in the near future is almost upon us.

Home (James) Doug and we did just that.  The afternoon was a slow one with watching the first then second and then third football games.  Early in the game, Colts seemed to have left the defense team at McDonalds on the way to the stadium.  It's been neck and neck with the "red birds" of Arizona.  The defense showed up at the very end of the game and came through.  They stand at 6 and 1 so far.  Pretty good I must say.

A self-imposed no afternoon of work is what this body needed.  Sometimes it takes a complete day after a hard workday to get my feet under me again.  This weekend has been one of those. Tomorrow is another energy day with morning, afternoon and supper commitments. The last one is perfect.  But just when I thought I was on easy street I was wrong again. Today, I didn't hear a Y call or Stella needing a walk around the block.  Thank you.

But there is something to show for the afternoon.  Something I don't call work but a simple relaxing time for the brain.

It now has a rod through the top and the hanger will be completed tonight.

One of the gourds got a little touching up late afternoon that amounted to a little wood burning of a design, with a finish added. It now is an official wren house. It's almost ready for its trip to the Umoja auction center where pictures will be taken and advertising of all that is available for the silent auction happens. I hope to make a delivery of several items that will help to feed, provide uniforms and other needed items to the children of western Kenya.  I've done this before, and I will do it again knowing that what we can send to support a well-run program will make our money go far. Some garden art will be included.

Sassy little mushrooms for the auction.
So, the day was good.  It was an easy day with my head taking care of my body.  Sometimes that is not the case.  They say girls eventually become like their mothers.  I see some similarities with using the last ounce of energy that one has before stopping. The recovery is not as speedy as one would wish.  Yes, that was my mother as my sister will tell you. Although I am the mother of boys, I see a bit of that in one of them.  It's your guess. So, the wish for the day is that making good decisions really happens in whatever I do. God be near.
