Thursday

A few Cleomes still looking almost their best.

As I thought, no frost.  What were they thinking.  It's a little nippy out.  Doug got his act together and called the furnace man to make the yearly inspection.  They usually say, "you are ready to go" after giving a look.  The furnace is relatively new, so the report so far has been good.

This dahlia bush is bursting with flowers.

Thursday brings another Living Strong, but not today.  There is a health fair at the Y and the instructor is needed to work the fair.  If time allows, I'll got to the Y early afternoon. That's when the Y is at its emptiest. Then it's a great place for old people.  It's less than two miles to the Y so the excuses not to go are pretty weak.

The painted lady is still visiting with us.  She chose a great background.

The morning brought another surg of putting burp fabric together to prepare for sewing. That is after all the other morning beginning things happened.  I've had some beautiful flannel for some time looking for a backing that would suit the flannel.  And I found that in straight cotton fabric which is something new.  So, it was finishing the ripping process and then marking burps with a path for the little engine that could, to find the tracks for traveling. 50 are ready for the around the track trip.

                                                            Something a little different.

I put two more sheets in the washing machine, and they will be the next to be ripped and sewing at some point.  There is always something waiting and that's a good thing.

In between times I texted hellos to all the grandsons.  It's always fun to see who has time and no time to respond to Grandma.  One by one I usually hear back within a week.  That's good enough for me.  So far, the youngest has responded.

A beautiful reflection of garlic stems upside down in the gazing ball.

The garlic stems right side up nearby reflected in the ball upside down.

I made my usual walk through the garden and managed to pick up all the stuff I tore out yesterday, adding a few more things.  I'll blame more energy on the morning cooler air.  We have a lot of wild geese flying over in the fall reminding me of a poem that starts with, someone told the wild geese, it was time to fly.

One of Doug's favorite things to photograph.  I thought I'd give it a try.

The Y got lost for the day.  Instead, I made it to church to clean up the Creative Care Sunday banners and more.  Then it was working in the Community Room getting ready what I could prepare ahead for Saturdays Bread and Bowl morning.  Some of our workers can't be with us so working ahead is the only way to make it work.  It reminds me of teaching that brought about working ahead only to be behind five minutes into the morning. That's when I worked with little folks.
Tonight's supper for Doug included spice cake.  I was going to say he had a brown supper.  My supper didn't include cake.  The camera picked up the green color in the split pea soup.  So I guess it just looked brown at the table.

    • Another good day of feeling good.  The energy lasted and the body says Thank You! I had a chance to talk with friends.  I contributed another 100 burps to needy mothers with new babies.  I am blessed to be able to give. Receiving helps others to know the blessing of giving. I've been blessed to receive and experience another good day.

A lot of peppers are still with us.
