Tuesday

There was a slow start to the day, and I just wasn't in a hurry to change that.  There was breakfast, a little TV.  Then a little sewing and a walk to retrieve the paper.  I chased the Starlings and hid some of the feeders till they "forgot" about black seeds.  I'm moving some feeders very close to the kitchen window wondering if this will discourage the Starlings. I'll let you know the results.

The move was made this morning after the Starlings were chased away.  The little birds were quite comfortable with the new place to eat later in the day.  We'll check on the Starlings tomorrow morning.

I'm always trying to best the Starlings, but they usually best me. It's hard to declare a trues with me being the looser.

The calendar is empty for today so whatever happens, happens and here are some of the happenings. Burp sewing.  Bird seed filling and watching, Block walking, Neighbor visiting. Ornamental grass clipping. Seed collecting. I'm thinking Fall is one of the saddest seasons at this house making the change from color to NO color. Such a bummer for my eyes.  But the before NO color happens, it's a glorious season of COLOR!  The trees are turning many colors today.

Part of this morning's crisp walk.

There was a walk around the block that always makes my Cancer hip stop hurting.  Now isn't that a bit crazy?  Go figure.  Could it be a muscular thing.  Perhaps the pain is calling on the muscles to come along side to support what needs a little more supporting. I'm sure the C doctor would wonder right along with me.  Our bodies are full of unanswered questions even for doctors. And again, I have been reminded by my C doctor that every body is different from every other body. There are times we ask unanswerable questions.

                                                                First there was a mess.

Then the cleanup crew moved in once again. I heard the crew will be on strike soon.

The afternoon got a little crazy.  The sun was shining, and the need to do clipping of ornamental grasses was promised.  I pulled from across the street; Gina's garbage can and then the killer machine took care of what became two huge piles of grass filling nearly two B B's.  The Pampas grass was tough and was usually burned other years.  It was hard work for the clippers.  We persisted and the deed was completed.  There was fountain grass cut but that will be the starter for next week's B Blue Bins.  Then I moved on with the clippers to other places leaving what was clipped to act as a little winter mulch.  That's another way to say all of the above was enough work for today.  If it snows tomorrow, I will call it OK even though a few zinnias still exist along with a few other things.  They are in the elite group that have earned a reprieve. The snow can wait, by the way.

Too pretty to pull out.  I might be called a softy.

A trip to Wild Birds for Safflower Seeds which the Black Birds are supposed to not like has been discussed.  We have an empty bird seed holder and an empty spot on the shepherd's crook.  I think we should give it a try.

I spent some time on the chair which was a welcomed spot for the rest of the afternoon.  It was chili from the refrigerator for supper after a chilly morning beginning.   I call that a tired supper cooks supper.

A bush loaded with Daliah's.  So pretty and such a great gift for fall viewing.

I liked today.  There was time for me.  Time for sewing, Time for neighbor conversations. Time for the garden and just time for where I needed time.  Life doesn't get much better than that.
