Tuesday
Yes, it's Tuesday all day. I decided it would be a cooking day. It really became a short cooking day. The frozen turkey came out of the refrigerator spending some time in a bath of cold water until I could take all the part out that were stuffed inside. The oven is reserved for most of the afternoon. Gravy is coming although I'm the only one that likes gravy. I also am the only one that likes stuffing. Boo Hoo. I usually skip that. Way to many carbs for a diabetic.
But first there was a trip to Needlers where Kat works for cranberry relish. I added a chicken pie for supper and a bag of salad greens.
Then it was off to Aldi's where I really did some damage. The place was busy with shoppers. Doug missed out on this trip. The thought came to me that if I don't have a certain food in the house, too bad. There will be many choices. We will be just fine and will go with what we have. Pizza, sloppy joes, and of course leftovers will be choices during the time the Russell's are together. One can't go wrong with all those options. Then there are sweet rolls and cookies if you remember previous posts. I have some aging bananas but today the oven is reserved for Ms. Turkey. There will be banana bread in the morning.
Then there is ice cream reminding us of the learning curve that came with Uncle Rick. It's just fine to eat ice cream for breakfast. Who would have thought of that but Rick. It's even the Bell variety with Strawberry, Mint Chocolate, Chocolate and Vanilla half and half.
So, home again and all items found a place to stay for a while. I made a pie, freezing it with baking later. The turkey eventually made it to the oven after the oven got a cleaning. My previous though the oven was good to go. Well, it wasn't. I plan on another cleaning later pushing the automatic button on the oven cleaner. The turkey moved into the space. Slicing and dicing is planned for tonight.
I spent some time knitting in the afternoon. This scarf was ripped out and knitted more than once or twice or three times in the last few days. The yarn is a little slippery and mistakes happened with ripping more times than I would like to admit. Watching TV while knitting must be a problem. Some days are like that in Indiana.
The day has been busy with that getting ready thing. It's not a bad thing but one that I've planned in a way that makes it easy. Not throwing in a two-day car trip ending with a trip through Atlanta with Doug at the wheel makes a bit of a difference. Yikes Slow and easy is the speed I'm on after a marathon at church.
And now the truth!
After talking with Noah, he had no problem admitted that more drawers were part of his directive Sunday. It was out of my hands. I am delighted with his decision to add to the number of drawers I had chosen buying into the Advent preparation. There are times when adults need to let go. Since Noah was a baby serving as Baby Jesus on Christmas eve, there have always been nativities to view at North. At some point I will have a set number. It will be large.
To finish up the day...one more scarf is finished. The turkey is doing a wonderful job of sending good smells through the house. Woo. It's nice and toasty brown with the thermometer telling us it's ready for slicing after sitting for a spell. One more turkey day job completed soon. I want to play with the rest of the gang this weekend.
Tonight, Doug is doing the carving. The turkey will get tucked into the refrigerator with reheating on Thursday along with a whole lot of other things.
