Monday

Another week to fill with good things. It's Christmas week.  Another week of family memories on the way.

The day started a bit early, and I managed to get all the morning things done pretty early.  The latest health goal is to spend some time each day at the Y.  It's just 2 miles south. That happened with another quick mile hiking through Bryce Canyon on the treadmill, listening to some wonderful Chopin.  It was delightful and I finished the mile in 24 minutes.  That's really hoofing it.  Then it was off to the Living Strong class, the last of this series.  The next group of classes will start sometime in January.  There was time to spend talking with one another, asking questions and getting answers.  And then I made the choice to go back to the "machine" room and work on taxing muscles on the bicycles.  But they have a different name.  I just can't remember their official name.  It works both arms and legs.  We were pushed and then had time to relax.  Then we did that more times than I want to remember.

And then a great surprise came along being the three Oehler children who really are adults doing work out stuff.  Kara, Cameron and Ian.  Woo.  It was so much fun to visit with them.  Especially Kara who now lives in Denmark, here for Christmas.  There were many words flying around for quite a while.  The bicycle work slowed a lot at that point.

I finally was on my way home stopping for gas before pulling into the garage.  There was lunch, a bit of sleeping and some knitting.  One side effect of the new medicine is the urge to sleep.  I just give in. I'm sure it won't last very long with the body adjusting.  I made an effort to fill the bird feeders again later in the day.

Another gathering of gifting things happened retrieved from various "hiding" places in the house. I discovered there was a purchase at Wild Birds last year that didn't get gifted.  And I discovered I bought the same thing this year to gift.  Dah.  And then I found another last year gift not gifted.  It would appear my brain is shot although forgetting gifts purchased is nothing new for this family.  Easy to admit for sure. There is no way I can hide that.

I spent some time mid-afternoon making beef vegetable soup.  Some is refrigerated and we'll have more for supper.  Chicken needed a rest. Doug thought it smelled wonderful.  I couldn't smell anything.

The evening will be filled with football, the hope being the game won't be a repeat of yesterday's Lyons game.  That was a tearjerker for sure. We'll see what our 44-year-old center can do tonight.
