Sunday

The day started at a snail's pace.  That was just fine because I knew that the pace would be changing dramatically later in the day.  That brought on a few text messages to folks saying I could use a little help at church later in the morning.

So, there was breakfast, knitting of course and just a gentle waking up to start the day.  Doug appeared and around 9. There was paper time for him and then by 10 we were on our way south to church.  There was visiting time before we found our pew surrounded by weekly worshiping friends.

Jill preached another wonderful Mary sermon.  The bells played and the sanctuary windowsills reminded us once again of the season.

Church services were over for the fourth Sunday of Advent BUT then it was time to prepare for the week.  It was rehearsal time for the first Christmas Eve service planned and executed by the youth of the church. Before that happened, it was time for the visual change from Advent to Christmas Eve.

The pulpit banner was changed and the Advent Candles moved to the altar allowing room in the chancel area for all three Christmas Eve services.  The three Christmas Eve services are different for good reason. The first being an early 5 o'clock service for families with young children.  The second service happening at 7:30 with communion and the last a 9:30 this year with the service of Lessons and Carols.  All with candle lighting at the close of each service.  Today's sanctuary set up needed to be a set up that took care of all three services with very little extra work Christmas Eve.  It took a little longer than hoped for but like most Sunday services we were home just a bit after 1 pm.  And if a forgotten is discovered there is time to remember and be fixed before Wednesday evening.

                                                                   From this to...

this.  The youth started their rehearsal for the 5 o'clock service.

The Light, Light, Light banner was moved to the narthex with a Christ Candle added.

As usual the afternoon was quiet which the body was very happy with.  Keeping my eyes open was not possible. The usual winter afternoon things happened with of course the summer things just a memory.
